📣YWCA NWT is pleased to see this announcement for an anticipated $480 million investment in affordable housing in the Northwest Territories.

As one of the largest, longest-running social services organizations in the territory, we are proud to support women and their families through our own transitional and second-stage housing programs.

Last year alone, we housed 167 families (including 163 children), and helped to keep 127 families from homelessness by paying outstanding arrears and utilities.

YWCA NWT is hopeful that this incoming investment will make a difference for Northerners.

We stand ready to work with both the Government of Canada and the Government of the Northwest Territories to provide safe, affordable, and accessible housing for women, children, and families with wraparound supports to help them thrive 💫

Building a strong Canada starts with increasing housing supply, strengthening infrastructure, and supporting growing communities.

👉BIG thanks to the Law Society of the Northwest Territories for their invitation to their, 'Trauma and Reconciliation: A Bench and Bar Learning Event'. 👩‍⚖️ We were pleased to have the opportunity to speak to the issue of Intimate Partner Violence with lawyers and judges and how to better support survivors. 🫶
