On behalf of the NT/NU Council of Friendship Centre Staff and Board, we would like to post an appreciation for Inuit Knowledge Keeper Gerri Sharpe for her wisdom shared at our Storytelling/Beading Circle on October 7th, 2026.

Gerri guided participants through storytelling on the Inuit Tactoo Meanings and Purpose and shared stories of Inuit Legends. We also connected over a delicious meal catered by Copperhouse. We greatly appreciate her sharing and beautiful Spirit of gifting us her knowledge. Mahsi Cho Gerri.

The NT/NU Council will host monthly Storytelling sessions at their Beading Circle. Stay tuned to find out who the Indigenous Storyteller for November will be.

The NT/NU Council of Friendship Centres will be closed in recognition for National Day for Truth & Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day on September 30th. The Staff would also acknowledge that the day can be heavy and emotional and would like to provide some helpful suggestions of self-care and supportive resources.

Gentle reminder for former Residential School Survivors and their families to take care of yourself and those who walk with Residential School Survivors as Allies, we thank you and let's continue to walk the journey together.

We'll also be having our weekly Beading Circle and invite you to join us tomorrow from 6-8pm and Orange Shirt Pin Beading Kits will be available for participants and another form of self-care is "beading/sewing" or bring your project and we look forward to seeing you there.

Also, most importantly to former Residential School Survivors "Thank You for Surviving. Thank You for Your Strength and Resiliency because We Are Still here with our Languages and Culture. Thank You for Surviving for Us (next generation)"
