February 11 – International Day of Women and Girls in Science 👩‍🔬✨

February 11th marks the **International Day of Women and Girls in Science** — a day to celebrate the incredible contributions of women in science and to inspire more girls and women to pursue careers in **science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).**

Let’s recognize achievements, break down barriers, and encourage future generations of innovators and leaders.

**Did you know?**
🔹 In 2021, only **27%** of individuals employed in science fields were women (US Census).
🔹 This international day was established in **2015** by the **United Nations General Assembly**.
🔹 Women are often awarded **smaller research grants** than their male colleagues.
🔹 Only **12%** of members of national science academies are women worldwide.

Today is a reminder of the importance of equality and opportunity in science — because diverse minds lead to stronger discoveries.

Canadian Agriculture Day 🌾🇨🇦

Today we recognize Canadian Agriculture Day, a time to celebrate the hardworking farmers, producers, and agri-food workers who help feed our communities every day.

Agriculture plays an essential role in Canada’s economy, sustainability, and food security — from local farms to global markets.

On this day, we thank everyone involved in the agriculture industry for their dedication, innovation, and commitment to providing safe, high-quality food for Canadians and beyond.

Let’s take a moment to appreciate the people behind the food on our tables.
