On May 5, we recognize National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People, also known as Red Dress Day. ❤️🪶

Red dresses hanging in empty spaces are powerful reminders of the Indigenous women, girls, Two-Spirit, and gender-diverse people who are missing or have been taken by violence.

We honour their lives.
We hold space for their families, communities, and loved ones.
And we acknowledge the ongoing impacts of violence rooted in colonialism, racism, and systemic injustice.

At Juniper House, we stand in solidarity with Indigenous communities and support the call for justice, safety, and accountability.

May we continue to listen, learn, and take action so that every woman, girl, and gender-diverse person can live safely.

MMIWG & 2 Spirited Awareness Walk happening on May 5th, 2026 at Yarmouth Elementary at 9:45am (will end at Frost Park).

In honor of International Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, & 2 Spirit Plus people (MMIWG2S+) ❤️.

In honor of International Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, & 2 Spirit Plus people (MMIWG2S+), Kespuwitk L'nu Mawija'jg and Tri-County Regional Centre for Education are hosting a MMIWG & 2 Spirited Awareness Walk.

The walk will take place on May 5th, 2026. It will begin at Yarmouth Elementary at 9:45am and will end at Frost Park.

The walk will be followed by:
Welcoming, drumming, words from respective guests; student-led sharings, closed by a cultural dance in honor and in the spirit of remembrance.
