South West Chapter of Autism Nova Scotia Understanding. Acceptance. Inclusion.

Programs and Services at the South West Chapter include: Ausome Cooking, Autism Arts, Adaptive Paddling, Adaptive Swim Lessons, Employment Support, Family Events, Family Support Services, QuickStart Nova Scotia, Resource Lending Library, Social-ish Groups, Summer Day Camp, Training & Education Sessions

In addition, individuals in South West can access the following province-wide virtual supports

: ANS Caregiver Support Group, Women's Autism/Autistic Project, LDX-A-Chat, Post-Secondary Autism Support Services, Employment & Wellness Support Group, Career Quest, Job Coaching, and Pinwheel Wellness Centre which includes Counselling, Therapy Groups, Occupational Therapy, and more.

✨Additional Summer Camp spaces added!✨

Due to recent changes, Autism NS & YACRO Summer Camp are offering a very limited number of spaces to new campers, or families who may have missed our original registration period.

The maximum number of weeks per camper remains at two weeks.

☕In partnership with Parents' Place Yarmouth Family Resource Center, Autism NS is bringing an in-person caregiver support group to Yarmouth next Wednesday, June 17th.

We are welcoming parents and caregivers of individuals on the autism spectrum to connect, share experiences, and support one another. Light refreshments will be provided.

📍Parents' Place, 34 Barnard Street
⏰10:00-11:30AM

Virtual options can be available if requested as well as alternative times for upcoming meetings.

🌈🏃‍♀️ COLOUR RUN IS COMING TO YARMOUTH! 🏃‍♂️🌈

Get ready to get colourful, get active, and have some fun!

Join us on Saturday, June 20 from 10:00 AM–12:00 PM for a family-friendly Colour Run along the beautiful Forchu River Trail at the Hebron Recreation Complex.

🎨 Marker colours and chalk provided
👕 Bring your own white shirt
📝 Registration takes place on-site before the event
🥾 5 km mixed-surface trail
♿ Accessible parking and washrooms available
🌧️ Rain or shine event (no rain date)

The route includes a variety of surfaces including grass, boardwalk sections, compacted dirt, and crushed gravel, making for a fun outdoor adventure for participants of all ages.

Bring your family, your friends, and your biggest smile as we celebrate movement, community, and colour together!

Join us for Autism Aviation Day on June 21, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.! 🍁✈️

In partnership with Air Canada, the Air Canada Foundation, Halifax Stanfield, and Autism Aviators, Autism Aviation Day offers Autistic individuals and their families a unique opportunity to experience air travel in a supportive and welcoming environment.

Participants will journey through the airport experience – from check-in and security screening to boarding an aircraft and taking to the skies on a real flight over the Halifax area.
