Event Details
Date: July 5, 2026
Time: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Cost: $40 for members / $45 for non-members
Location: 25m Bay
Workshop Overview
This approximately 3½ to 4-hour session will be divided into two parts:
Part 1 – Fundamentals and Skill Development
The first portion will focus on:
Safety refresher and range procedures
Proper grip, stance, sight alignment, and trigger control
Dry-fire practice
Live-fire exercises from the low-ready position
Participants can expect to fire approximately 100 rounds on paper targets at distances ranging from 6 to 16 metres. The goal is to build a solid foundation and correct any bad habits that may have developed.
Part 2 – Fun Steel Match
The second portion will be a fun and lightly competitive steel challenge:
Five hanging steel plates
Three timed strings
Approximately 45 rounds required
Participants should bring 100 rounds minimum for the steel portion to allow for misses or reshoots. Steel targets will be engaged at distances between 11 and 16 metres.
The objective is to develop instinctive shooting skills in a safe and enjoyable environment while providing a sense of accomplishment using the club's larger hanging gongs.
Course Format
All shooting will be conducted from the low-ready position:
Loaded firearm with safety engaged
No holster draws
No movement between shooting positions
No magazine changes during timed strings
Participants may transport fi****ms to and from the firing line using a holster, gun rug, or case. Fi****ms will only be unholstered or uncased when the range is declared hot and when instructed. Magazine reloads will take place between strings and will not be under time pressure.
