This is a very needed service given how rural we are in the Western Valley.

🚗 Drive Change in Your Community — Become a Volunteer Driver! 💛
Do you have a few hours to spare and a desire to make a real difference right here in Western New Brunswick?

This spring and summer there is an urgent need in the Woodstock and Perth-Andover areas due to other temporary commitments of our volunteers.

Urban/Rural Rides is looking for compassionate, community-minded individuals to help provide safe, reliable transportation for people who need it most — seniors without access to a vehicle who need a lift to medical appointments, groceries, and other essentials.

As a volunteer driver, you’ll:
✔️ Make a meaningful impact in someone’s day (and life!)
✔️ Enjoy flexible scheduling that fits your availability
✔️ Meet incredible people in your community
✔️ Be part of a supportive and appreciative team

Whether you can give a few hours a week or a few days a month, every ride matters.

Sometimes, it’s not just about getting from point A to point B — it’s about dignity, independence, and knowing someone cares enough to show up.

Please call today to find out more or visit www.urbanruralrides.ca to find out more!

Ara Equus is a pioneering mental health and wellness centre in Bedell, NB, specializing in trauma therapy and personal wellness programs to facilitate healing and personal growth. Our mission is to offer a safe space for individuals to feel seen, heard, felt and validated as they explore paths to self-discovery, inner healing and empowerment.

Experience the support of horses as well as certified trauma-informed professionals in a private equine therapy session. We are available for one-on-one sessions with clients starting in June 2026. Each session lasts approximately an hour but longer sessions can be arranged and can be scheduled weekly, biweekly or monthly as suited to your needs. No riding or horse experience is necessary because our sessions are non-riding.

Our interests include the integration of evidence-based neuroscience and psychotherapy modalities into horse guided wellness and mental health programs with a special focus on chronic treatment resistant and trauma-related conditions. It has been proven that horses can take you to places that are unreachable in conventional therapy! Consent, choice, compassion and safety are pivotal in all interactions. In-person and virtual sessions are available.

We suggest a minimum of 4-8 sessions depending on your personal needs and insurance coverage. Our services are covered by many private or workplace benefits or extended health plans.

Happy Pride Season! It really is its own season. Thanks to St. Margaret's Bay Pride in Nova Scotia, who took the Pride events from Wayves Magazine and turned it into a wonderful posting of all the Pride events happening in the Maritimes.

If you are taking a more local holiday this summer, plan it around a pride event and support other 2SLGBTQIA+ organizations and groups.

We had not planned on presenting another award so soon, but here we are!

Thank you to Jason J. from New Brunswick for being our next winner. You have a jealousy streak that is going to get you into trouble dear boy.

Next time Sweetie, before you post dis-information, perhaps you might want to reflect on just what it is that you were thinking you were going to get out of it. Seriously, did you not read what the award was for?

It seems Jason J., was not happy that someone had won the award first. Not to be outdone, Jason J., a keyboard warrior, decided to post his very own anti-trans rhetoric. He then asked what he won.

Well Dearest Jason J., you are such a special gem that you have won two awards. (We can only assume he will be over the moon about this)

Your first award is the “Keyboard Warrior Fail Award” for leaving your profile open, listing where you live and your place of employment. This award blocks you and deletes your comment.

We can’t take credit for the second award, but do think you are deserving of it. The “I Should Have Just Not Posted Award”, comes with an option for a career employment counsellor.

It seems someone who saw your posting and your employer information, has notified the HR department of your employer about your post. They even sent a screen shot to them. It seems HR has taken your post very seriously and are investigating it.

While, the outcome has yet to be determined, we regrettably advise we are not able to provide a positive reference at this time for you! However, we do send you Best Wishes.

Sexual health is very important to a person's well-being. It can be a topic some are not always comfortable talking about, so sharing this information online is essential.

Should you be sexually active and not using protection or having condom-less activity, testing for sexually transmitted infections (STIs), sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) or sexually transmitted and blood borne infections (STBBIs) every three months is important.

Common types of STIs include chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, and HIV, and many STIs can be asymptomatic, meaning individuals may not show symptoms but can still transmit the infection.

In NB you can contact AIDS NB for a free HIV self test kit or for drug testing. Their next van service for Carleton County will be June 16th and for Victoria County, May 26th. You can contact them at 1-883-561-4009 or email [email protected]

You can also call 811 for a referral for testing with the provincial health Horizon Health.

Congratulations to today's ill-educated transphobic winner... Angela Miniotas from Halifax, NS for their comment on our posting of IDAHOBIT on Facebook.

Angela felt the personal need to comment on our page to which she does not follow. We hope it made her day to spread misinformation. What Angela posted was an image of Trans & Nonbinary Activist jeffrey marsh and their book, How to be You. This meme's writing claimed that" no child believes they were born in the wrong body until a creepy adult deliberately puts that idea in their head".

While Angela's posting on their own page urges others to be free thinkers, question everything and research is mandatory, sadly, Angela does not seem to follow their own advice.

However, we have a new perspective on how to make lemonade out of sour lemons, so... we would like to introduce you to jeffrey marsh, a nonbinary activist who posts and writes inspiring messages of identity and belonging.

Cheers!

May 17th 2024 The Rainbow Crosswalk and a group of supporters, allies, students from 2 high schools and members of the 2SLGBTIA+ community met in Woodstock for International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexphobia, and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT). We had amazing speakers and we delivered a letter to the Minister of Education on the horrific and anti-trans Policy 713 they wanted to put into our schools.

This year, Egale, Canada’s leading organization for 2SLGBTQI people and issues are again speaking out and they can say it much better than we can. So please take a few minutes and read what they have to say about IDAHOBIT and what you can do to help move their work forward.

"Each year on May 17, the world marks the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexphobia, and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) — a global moment to stand in solidarity with 2SLGBTQI communities and highlight the ongoing need to confront hate and discrimination.

Around the world, including here in Canada, we are seeing a continued rise in anti-2SLGBTQI hate, driven by misinformation and disinformation, coordinated efforts to roll back rights, and increasing targeting of trans and q***r communities through harmful rhetoric and policy.

Hate crimes, alongside efforts to undermine inclusion and equality, are putting the safety, dignity, and well-being of 2SLGBTQI people at greater risk.

Amid this rising anti-2SLGBTQI hate, we are calling on everyone to take action:

Prioritize Intersectionality

Understand Anti-2SLGBTQI Hate

Take Action Against Anti-2SLGBTQI Hate"
