The popularity of keeping fish as pets has created a virtually unregulated industry that fails to educate the public on proper fish keeping. People purchase fish not realizing the commitment to the proper care, housing, and environment requirements these sensitive animals rely on. This is because fish are seen as easy to care for and disposable if necessary. Many fish live a miserable life, in unm
aintained, possibly overcrowded or too small aquariums (or vases, buckets, tupperwear, ect). Over time the novelty of fish keeping wears off for the child and the parent and the fish is forgotten, dumped in ditches, rivers or lakes or flushed down the drain. We are here to give these forgotten Bettas, Goldfish and Tetras a new chance at happiness. We understand that people cannot keep their pets for one reason or another and we are here to help! We are volunteer run and will take fish on a first come basis. We operate on a small scale. Depending on rates of animal surrender we may have to put fish on a waiting list for rescue. We will not take on more fish than we can provide appropriate care for. Please be a responsible pet owner, if you are unable to care for your fish please Contact Us through this page.
*Adoption*
Fish will be adopted out to interested individuals at a low cost and (a donation of their choice) providing they agree to a home visit to view where the fish will be living and has an understanding of what is required of them to give their fish a stimulating, long and happy life.
$5 per Goldfish or Betta. $5 per 3 Tetra. All fish up for adoption will have gone through a 3 week quarantine to treat any parasites, wounds, or bacterial infections. It is recommended that the adopter also quarantine the rescue fish for an additional week to ensure the health of their own fish. If at any point the adopter cannot keep the fish it is to be returned to the rescue.
*Donation*
This rescue is run on Donations. If you have any water holding tanks, water conditioner, filters, water quality testing kits or other aquarium equipment, decorations, ect, not in use please consider donating it to keep the rescue going.
