• enhances and provides positive experiences and increase potential to contribute to and enrich Manitoba's social fabric and economy.
• provides an environment that allows newcomers to settle in, raise their families, and eventually invest in Manitoba.
• temporary accommodations at Welcome Place Residence. Created post-war, the agency has over 70 years of history of sustainability and growth dealing with arrivals from around the world. Governed by a multi-faith volunteer Board the agency mobilizes resources from government and the general community to deliver high quality services to help integrate refugees/immigrants into Canadian society. Under the direction of the Board the agency monitors government policies and attitudes towards refugees/immigrants and works cooperatively with federal, provincial, and non-government agencies which are concerned for the welfare of refugees/immigrants. The agency ensures, through its programming and community connections with other like-minded and specialized agencies, that refugees and immigrants access and receive services that are necessary and appropriate for individual and family needs. MIIC works in partnership with various ethnocultural communities of newcomers, provincial and federal services that include education, health, legal, social services, private business, and the community at large. These partnerships include but are not limited to: NEEDS, BridgeCare, ManitobaPossible, Manitoba START, Immigrant Centre, Success Skills, Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, SEED, Family Dynamics, IRCOM, Winnipeg Police, Child and Family Services, various school divisions, ENTRY, WELARC, and a host of other agencies and community support groups.
