✨ Business Spotlight: Pingk Hair

Pingk Hair is a long-time staple in Winnipeg’s South Fort Rouge area. The salon offers haircuts, colouring, bridal hair, extensions, and waxing, along with a safe space, plenty of laughs, and a strong connection to the community.

Inspired by a desire to stay in her neighbourhood and become more involved in local events, Bonnie Gow took over the business to keep the Pingk name alive in the area. With support from LRCC, she was able to secure funding to renovate the salon, bring new life to the business, and access ongoing guidance whenever questions arose.

One of her biggest accomplishments has been providing her longtime friends with the opportunity to become their own bosses. As a chair rental salon, Pingk Hair allows independent stylists to operate their own businesses while working together under one roof. She also takes pride in helping clients discover all that the neighbourhood she lives and works in has to offer.

Her advice to other Red River Métis entrepreneurs is to make sure you have a solid business plan. There will be hiccups along the way, and there will be times when you feel scared or overwhelmed, but there will also be moments of laughter and success that make it all worthwhile.
