Members of United Steelworkers Local 8740 have been on strike from Gerdau AmeriSteel Manitoba Metals’ recycling operations in Selkirk for over a month. These hardworking Manitobans do important work in the metals recycling industry supporting operations at Gerdau steel mill.

Please show your support and stand in solidarity at USW Local 8740’s picket line this coming Monday October 26 at Noon in front of the Gerdau steel mill at 27 Main St. in Selkirk.

Let’s stand with these workers as they fight for a fair deal!

As we head into the Thanksgiving long weekend, happy Thanksgiving to our USW9074 members and families who celebrate!

This weekend means different things to different people and cultures. However you spend it, I hope you have a chance to rest, share some good food, and enjoy time with friends, family, and those close to you.

As your Local President, I want to thank you for your continued support of our Union and one another. The ways you stand up for your coworkers, take part in your Local, and help your communities make a difference. That’s what being a member driven union is all about.

For those working this weekend, I hope you also find some time to relax and connect with the people who matter most to you.

Take care of yourselves and each other, and enjoy the weekend!

Your voice is needed now more than ever….

Did you know that USW9074 is an amalgamate? What that means is we have many workers from across Manitoba at different units that collectively support one another. For example your President is a lumber worker, your Vice President is in manufacturing to make potato products, your recording secretary makes elevator guide rails and so many more!

That's more than just cool, our local is growing and as we do that we build strength in numbers and skills!

But the thing is, we aren't done growing! Our good friends at the MFL, labour councils, and organizers Deepak and Pablo from District 3 are hard at work finding the unorganized and helping them see the benefit of being in a member driven local like ours.

If you know someone who might be a good fit for our member driven, education focused, engaged in community and active at councils union, reach out! We'd love to connect with Manitobans that could use a little SOLIDARITY :)

🎉 CONGRATULATIONS TC INDUSTRIES MEMBERS! 🎉

💪 Another 3-year collective agreement ratified! 💛🖤

We are excited to congratulate our USW Local 9074 members at TC Industries in Selkirk on voting YES to their new three-year collective agreement!

After several weeks of back-and-forth negotiations, we're pleased to see an agreement that addresses many of the priorities our members brought to the bargaining table.

✅ Wage increases that recognize the rising cost of living and the financial pressures working families face every day.

✅ Improvements to premiums and benefits, including dental coverage, glasses, eye exams, profit sharing, and more!

These improvements reflect what our members told us matter to them. While there's always more work to be done, every improvement helps build a stronger collective agreement for the future.

👏 A big thank you to bargaining committee member Bob, who stepped up to represent his coworkers throughout the process and ultimately recommended the agreement to the membership. We also want to recognize USW Staff Representative Phil for his work over the past several weeks to bring this agreement together.

But the biggest thank you goes to our TC Industries members!

With an outstanding turnout across three ratification meetings today, you showed just how important having a voice in your workplace really is. Your participation, questions, and engagement are what make our union stronger.

As we celebrate this ratification, we also look forward to the next three years of representing, supporting, and standing alongside our members at TC Industries. Bargaining may be finished for now, but our commitment to you continues every day.

Congratulations again, TC Industries! Here's to three more years of solidarity, progress, and working together! ✊
