πππ₯ Thank You for Making the Together We Read Picnic & BBQ a Success! π₯ππ
On behalf of USW Local 9074, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our members who helped make the Together We Read Picnic & BBQ such a wonderful community event. Whether you volunteered your time, attended with your family, donated, or helped spread the word, your contributions made a real difference.
A special thank you goes out to the Selkirk and District Labour Council for their generous $500 donation, Gerdau for their ongoing support, and the members of USW Local 9074 for contributing $500 toward the event. Your commitment to our community helps create opportunities for families to connect, learn, and celebrate together.
Events like this remind us why it is so important for unions to support our local labour councils and community partners. When unions work together, we strengthen our communities, build meaningful relationships, and create opportunities that benefit everyone. Supporting literacy initiatives, engaging with our educational partners, and investing in community events are all part of our commitment to making a positive impact beyond the workplace.
As we celebrate Pride Month, we are also proud to support events and initiatives like this that promote inclusion, diversity, and belonging. The labour movement has always been strongest when everyone has a seat at the table, and we stand with the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in building welcoming and respectful spaces for all.
Thank you again to everyone who helped make this event possible. We look forward to continuing this important work and creating even more successful community events in the future.

A reminder that the next Selkirk and District Labour Council meeting will be held next Wednesday at the Union Hall in Selkirk starting at 7 pm. We encourage affiliates, activists, and community-minded members to attend and be part of the conversations that help strengthen our movement.
Together, we read. Together, we support. Together, we build stronger communities.
In Solidarity,
Shawn McIvor
President, USW Local 9074
