This picture of Shari at our summer picnic is a wonderful memory of celebrating both our unique group and Shari's retirement. Shari recently contacted me to post this message from her, so here it is.....

Dear HeartLinks (insert heart emoji here)!

Please accept my belated thankyou to all of you for your most generous gifts! The cake! and the banner!! at the picnic.

It was a special day to spend with so many of you and it meant the world to me.

I've been so fortunate to have landed where I did in my nursing career. There's nothing else I would have rather done than be a part of the team that cares for you.

You are all very special, I've admired your resilience and bravery as you went through your journeys.

As heart transplant recipients, we recognize NOTDAW's purpose is to raise organ and tissue donor awareness across our country. There is a critical need for organ donors and we encourage all Canadians to register their donor intentions. To every Canadian who wore green, shared a story, started a conversation, registered their decision, or honoured a loved one — you showed up. And because of you, Green Shirt Day 2026 made an incredible impact across the country.

This year was so powerful because it wasn’t just about awareness — it was about action and connection. We saw more people than ever not only wearing green, but truly understanding why it matters. Families had meaningful conversations. Communities came together at events big and small. Stories of hope, loss, and life-saving generosity were shared from coast to coast.
