IIWR-MB

IIWR-MB Based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, IIWR-Mb is founded to generate education, awareness, and action to promote gender equity

The Institute for International Women's Rights - Manitoba (IIWR-MB) is located on Treaty One Territory, the lands of the Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota and Dene peoples, and on the homeland of the Métis Nation. We acknowledge we are treaty people, residing on Turtle Island and seek to work in the spirit of reconciliation, supporting the 94 Recommendations of the Truth and Reconciliation Comm

ission and the 231 Calls for Justice. The energy used to maintain this page comes from generating stations on rivers in Treaty Areas 1, 3 & 5. IIWR-MB is a community-focused organization seeking to generate education, awareness, and action to promote gender equity. We are incorporated as a not-for-profit organization in the Province of Manitoba with five key values:
- Advocacy: Highlighting to the larger community the issues, focusing on gender equity.
- Inclusivity: Being welcoming, diverse and respectful; having authentic grassroots voices; valuing everyone’s contribution.
- Sharing/Learning: Raising our and others’ awareness and knowledge.
- Connection and Community: Engaging and supporting multiple communities through education and fundraising.
- Peace: Acting on and promoting non-violence and safety. IIWR-Manitoba is governed by a board of volunteers elected from the membership at the Annual General Meeting. Membership in IIWR-MB is open to all people and organizations supportive of gender equity. There are many ways for members to make a contribution to the work of IIWR-MB. We encourage participation by all our members on committees, if they wish, or to represent IIWR-MB in community activities. Examples of committees are the Advocacy Committee, Communications Committee, Diversity and International Initiatives Committee and Youth Council. If you are interested in becoming involved on the board or on a committee, please contact us at [email protected] or head to our website https://iiwrmb.ca/volunteer/ and sign up

Our IIWR-MB logo is designed by Kal Barteski, and we love it - colourful and sends a message about our work. You can see more about Kal here: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Kal-Barteski/206414096054989
