The German-Canadian Congress, in collaboration with the General Consulate Toronto and the Goethe Institute Montreal, cordially invite you to join us for the free screening of Zu weit weg (Too Far Away; German 2019, 92 min.) on the occasion of German Heritage Month on Monday, October 19, at 7 p.m. at 100 Arthur Street (Artspace Building).

Directed by Sarah Winkenstette, Zu weit weg tells the story of Tim who, after moving to a new city, is the outcast at school. A talented striker, Tim joins the soccer team but is outshined by another newcomer: Tariq, a refugee from Syria. Despite all differences, the two boys soon realize they have more in common than they think.

We would like to invite you to our traditional German Breakfast. The Breakfast takes place in the office of the German-Canadian Congress in the Fort Garry Place Mall. It is a great opportunity to get together, meet new people and even improve your German language skills.

Hello everyone,
In case you hadn’t heard – this weekend is Oktoberfest at DMC!

They’ve got 3 days of good times starting this Friday at 5pm, with a great selection of German beers, music, and activities. And best of all – it’s totally free to attend! They are particularly excited about The German Club Band being there on Saturday and Sunday.

Come join us as a group of University of Manitoba students present their experience in Germany through the lens of their travel course, and discover one of their favourite stops, Germany's capital city, Berlin! If you missed our Folklorama pavilion with the same theme, now is your chance to stop by and enjoy what Berlin in Winnipeg has to offer. Finally, we will enjoy a staple Berlin treat, Berliners. Thanks to the German consulate in Toronto, the German-Canadian Congress is proud to present its new jam filling machine! We are debuting this special gift by sharing the opportunity with you to fill your very own Berliner donut. This event will have limited space, so please help us by registering online.
