Get ready for a great evening of paddling films from across Canada and around the world!

Join us for this annual event in support of the Paddle Manitoba Paddling Centre and the Bill Mason Scholarship Fund. Along with the films, you can meet with local paddling vendors and operators, chat with fellow paddlers and win some great prizes.

Halloween Paddle on October 31 at 1:00 pm!

Bring your boat and your costume and join us as we travel down the La Salle River dressed for the occasion.

There will be a free BBQ lunch before the paddle starting at 12:00 pm at the Paddle Manitoba Paddling Centre near the launch. If you would like to attend the lunch, please be sure to Register so we can plan for numbers. You can register on our website at paddlemanitob.org/events

The paddle will start and end at the canoe/kayak launch at La Barriere Park, just past the Paddling Centre building. We'll leave the launch at 1:00 pm, returning by 3:00 pm. Come in your costume and bring any other decor for your boat. There is no need to register if you are only attending the paddling portion.

Be sure to arrive with enough time before launch to unload, park, use the washroom and decorate your boat and yourself!

Be aware that this event will cancelled if there are poor weather conditions and that this may be a last minute decision just before launch time. Be sure to monitor our Facebook and Instagram pages for updates near the event date.

For the paddle you must wear a PFD (lifejacket) and have the required Transport Canada safety equipment of a whistle, throw rope and bailer (for canoes and kayaks) or a whistle and throw rope (for SUPs)

You must also complete the Paddle Canada waiver if this is the first event you attend. You can find a fillable version at the bottom of our events page. Once you complete it, you can print and bring it or you can upload it on our events page.

It was the right night for Light Bright!

Close to 30 boats came out decked in their brightest colours for our Light Bright Paddle to wrap up the Wednesday Evening Open Paddle season for 2026. With calm winds and decent temperatures, it was a beautiful evening on the La Salle River.

Thanks to everyone that came out!

Paddle Manitoba received a big canoe through Winnipeg Canoe Rentals a few years ago. Needing some repair, the work was completed by volunteers in stages. Once completed, plans were to use it for our programming. However, the challanging realities of moving and storing it became apparent. Wanting to see it used as much as possible, we reached an agreement to donate it to InterVarsity Manitoba Pioneer Camp. This past weekend Paddle Manitoba board members and volunteers, along with camp staff, brought it to it's new home. We look forward to seeing it in action next season!

With municipal elections coming soon, put paddling on the platform.

Perhaps it's the creation of something new, but what about the maintenance of existing infrastructure or the return of opportunities and infrastructure removed in the past?

Are there paddling opportunities for students in your division? Is paddling part of existing outdoor or physical education programs?

If you would like to see more paddling where you are, talk to the candidates for mayor, reeve, councillor or trustee in your area.

The Women's Adventure Film Tour is coming to the West End Cultural Centre, co-presented by Wilderness Supply Winnipeg.

It'll be an evening of great films representing the spirit of perseverance and power of women in the outdoors on Thursday, October 22, 2026.

Doors open at 6:00 pm, with films starting at 7:00 pm.
