🏆 A New Chapter for the Manitoba Curling Hall of Fame 🏆

The Manitoba Curling Hall of Fame is celebrating its 40th Anniversary with some exciting changes to its induction program for 2027 — including a long-overdue recognition of the coaches who helped shape championship teams.

Seven coaches of Canadian and World Junior Championship teams have now been officially added to the Hall of Fame’s Honoured Members listing, recognizing the important role they played in their teams’ success.

👏 Congratulations to:

Tom Clasper — Braden Calvert’s 2015 team
Lorne Hamblin — David Hamblin’s 2002 team
Bill Mackenzie — Kelly Mackenzie’s 1995 team
Don Harvey — Hugh McFadyen’s 1986 team
Jim Ursel — Bob Ursel’s 1985 team
Ina Light — Karen Fallis’ 1981 team
Mark Olson — Mert Thompsett’s 1979 & 1981 teams

The Hall of Fame is also introducing a brand-new COACH category, with the first coach inductees set to be recognized at the 2027 Induction Event on May 1 at Winnipeg’s Victoria Inn.

And there’s much more planned for the 40th Anniversary celebration:

🎉 40 individuals will be inducted in honour of 40 years
🥌 CURLER inductees will, for the first time, include those whose success spans Manitoba and other provinces
👏 COACH inductees will be introduced for the first time
🥂 The traditional fundraising dinner will become a more relaxed reception, with tickets expected to be about half the previous price — making the celebration more accessible to the curling community

Stay tuned for the full 40th Anniversary slate of inductees and event details, expected before November 30, 2026.
