We are happy to announce that Toba Centre is one of our feature charities for the month of October.
Toba Centre is Manitoba’s only child advocacy centre, supporting children and youth who have experienced abuse or witnessed violence. Kids and families receive wraparound support from a multidisciplinary team, including police, medical, child protection, mental health, and other professionals.
October is Child Abuse Awareness Month. Toba Centre encourages Manitobans to wear blue, light up their homes and businesses, support local awareness initiatives, and share our messages. Together, we can make a difference for Manitoba’s children and youth.
Our Helping Hounds—DWW Duke, DWW Booster, and DWW Jelly—help bring comfort and reduce stress and anxiety for children and families. They may greet families, join meetings, or be present during interviews and medical appointments
Toba Centre is a multidisciplinary team that brings together professionals and community partners to support children, youth and families. That support goes beyond our walls—when families come to Toba Centre, they feel the care of a community that has come together to help them heal and reminds them they are not alone.
Every donation helps Toba Centre provide the best care possible. From creating a welcoming space to providing comfort, resources and specialized support, community generosity ensures families have what they need to begin their journey toward healing.

The answer is… GIMLI!

Did you guess it? 👀

Yesterday’s mystery photo took us back to Gimli’s historic waterfront on the shores of Lake Winnipeg.

Here’s a look at Gimli today! The community’s permanent pier was built in 1900, with a lighthouse added in 1910. The original lighthouse was later damaged by an ice pile-up in 1943, but its top was saved and eventually incorporated into the reconstructed lighthouse that stands at the harbour today.

How quickly did you recognize this Manitoba community?

Stay tuned — another Manitoba mystery is coming soon! ❤️

We are happy to announce that IRCOM is one of our feature charities for the month of October.
The Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization of Manitoba (IRCOM) is a Winnipeg-based charitable organization dedicated to supporting newcomer immigrant and refugee families as they begin their settlement journey in Canada.

Founded in 1989, more than 35 years ago, IRCOM was built on a unique, holistic, and community-centred model that intentionally links transitional and affordable housing with on-site, wrap-around programs and services. This integrated approach supports newcomer families not only to meet their immediate needs, but to build stability, resilience, and long-term belonging within the broader Winnipeg community.

IRCOM’s mission is to empower immigrant and refugee families to integrate into their new community with dignity, stability, and a strong sense of belonging. To fulfill this mission, IRCOM intentionally pairs safe, affordable housing with coordinated, on-site supports that address the educational, social, emotional, and economic needs of both parents and children.
