🐾 FOUND CAT 🐾

We had a little visitor show up at the Kinsmen Club today!

This cat was found near our building at 161 Taapweewin Way and is currently safe with us. We would love to help get them back home to their family.

If you believe this may be your cat, please send us a private message with a description and/or photo so we can make sure we reunite them with the right person.

Please feel free to share this post and help us find this little one’s family! ❤️🐱

We are excited to announce that Blackbird Ranch Equine Rescue is a September feature charity.
Blackbird Ranch Equine Rescue and Rehab is a dedicated non-profit organization committed to giving horses a second chance at life. Through rescue, compassionate medical care, tailored rehabilitation, and individualized retraining, Blackbird Ranch takes in horses that have been neglected, surrendered, or displaced, guiding them back to health and purpose. Every horse that enters their gates receives individualized attention, whether their path leads to a loving forever home or a permanent, safe sanctuary. Driven by community support, volunteer dedication, and a passion for animal welfare, Blackbird Ranch serves as a safe haven where healing, trust, and human-horse connection thrive.
Our core mission
To give second chances to horses: Blackbird Ranch provides rescue, dedicated rehabilitation and retraining, as well as lifelong sanctuary or adoption pathways for horses in need across Manitoba, South Eastern Saskatchewan and Northwestern Ontario.
Comprehensive, Individualized Care
Healing from the Ground Up: Every horse we take in undergoes a customized recovery plan. This ranges from critical veterinary and nutritional care to physical rehab and gentle retraining to help them regain trust in humans. Sometimes their journey only lands them with us for a few weeks but those few weeks are a whole new life filled with love and respect.
Community-Driven Impact
Powered by People: As a non-profit, Blackbird Ranch relies entirely on the generosity of local donors, sponsors, community fundraisers, and passionate volunteers to keep our doors open and our rescue efforts moving forward. All of our directors and volunteers have full-time jobs, and anyone who knows horses knows they are another full-time job.
Every Horse Has a Unique Story
Sanctuary & Adoption: While many horses are carefully rehabilitated and placed into loving forever homes, others with permanent special needs find a lifelong home right at the Ranch, where they are cared for with dignity. We all care for the horses as if they were our own.
Education & Human-Horse Connection
Building Empathy & Awareness: Beyond saving animals, the Ranch fosters strong community relationships by educating the public on responsible equine care, animal welfare, and the powerful bond between humans and horses. We try to bring some of the horses to community events, or to visit the elderly at community homes to boost spirits and brighten their days.
Where the Jackpot Funds Go
Direct daily impact: Support from features like Kinsmen Jackpot Bingo directly funds essential day-to-day care such as specialized feed, emergency veterinary care, farrier services, and shelter maintenance for the horses. It also covers transportation costs for moving feed, bedding or traveling to and from animal pick ups, drop offs or events.
How the Public Can Get Involved
Join the Mission: Community members can support Blackbird Ranch by donating, participating in local raffles and events, or spreading the word on social media to help match horses with forever families. Monthly sponsorships are available message us on Facebook to find out more!

We are happy to announce that Career Trek is one of our feature charities.
When a young person can see a possibility, they can pursue a possibility. And when we invest in that possibility, we invest in the future of Manitoba itself. Career Trek believes in a strong future for all Manitoba youth.
Career Trek believes in a strong future for all Manitoba youth.
At Career Trek, we believe potential exists in every young person. Through real-world experiences, Career Trek opens doors, broadens horizons, and helps young people envision futures they may never have imagined for themselves.
Career Trek has been supporting Manitoba youth for nearly 30 years.
Founded in 1996 at the University of Manitoba, Career Trek was built on a simple but powerful belief: every young person deserves the opportunity to succeed. For three decades, the organization has empowered thousands of youths to discover their strengths, build confidence, and take meaningful steps toward their future.
Career exploration starts earlier than most people think.
Research shows that career aspirations begin forming at a young age. That’s why Career Trek introduces youth to a wide range of educational and career pathways as early as grade 5, helping them make more informed decisions and see possibilities beyond their current circumstances.
Through post-secondary and workplace visits, mentorship opportunities, interactive activities, and direct engagement with professionals, young people do more than learn about careers; they begin to see themselves in them. These experiences transform curiosity into confidence and aspiration into action.
Not every young person begins from the same starting line. Many of the youth Career Trek serves face social, economic, geographic, or systemic barriers that can limit access to educational and career exploration. Career Trek is committed to ensuring that circumstances do not determine outcomes by creating equitable opportunities for growth, achievement, and success.
Career Trek is intentional about helping young Manitobans discover their strengths, finding their voice, and believing in their own potential. Through Career Trek’s hands-on industry and education mentorship programs, youth will develop the confidence, resilience, and self-belief needed to find, and navigate future opportunities.
Career Trek believes strong communities begin with empowered youth.
When young people are equipped with knowledge, confidence, and opportunity, everyone benefits. Communities that have interacted with Career Trek have become more resilient and more engaged in education and career exploration. Employers gain future talent. Manitoba gains future leaders.
By investing in youth today, Career Trek is helping build a brighter tomorrow for generations to come.
