🍎💪JUNE 6TH IS NATIONAL HEALTH AND FITNESS DAY!💪🍎

National Health and Fitness Day is an annual coast-to-coast-to-coast celebration of physical activity held on the first Saturday in June.

It was established to help make Canadians more aware of the important health benefits of physical activity, urge them to get more active, and encourage local governments and organizations to host events and initiatives that celebrate and promote the significance and use of parks and local fitness, sport and recreational facilities.

Here are some ways you can stay healthy and active:

1. Find a community physical activity event

Participate in a group yoga session, dance class, walk/wheel, hike, run, bike ride, swim or sporting event in your community at a local community centre, gym, aquatic centre, park, trail or beach.

2. Get active with friends and family
Plan a group walk/wheel, hike, run, bike ride, swim or team sport, or go on an active date with your significant other.

3. Use active transportation
Wherever you’re going on National Health and Fitness Day, walk/wheel, take public transit, cycle, scoot or skate to get there.

The possibilities are endless - just get moving! 😊

Today is the day! 📣

It's National Health and Fitness Day — Canada's annual celebration of movement.

Walk it. Ride it. Stretch it. Dance it. Pickleball it. Whatever 'it' looks like for you, make some room for it today.

If you're a community, organization or group hosting something, tag us to show us how you're celebrating. We want to see it!

With soaring temperatures, it’s crucial to understand how heat stroke can strike.

When your body can’t cool down effectively, it leads to a dangerous rise in body temperature, causing heat exhaustion or heat stroke.

🌞How Heat Stroke Happens:

🥵 Prolonged exposure to extreme heat
💪 Overexerting yourself in hot weather
🥵 Dehydration, which limits your body’s ability to regulate temperature

🌞Prevent Heat Stroke:

✅ Hydrate – Drink plenty of water throughout the day
👕 Dress Light – Wear loose, breathable clothing
⛱️ Seek Shade – Avoid direct sun for long periods
🛑 Avoid Strenuous Activity – Especially during peak heat

🌞Know the signs:

🥵High body temperature
😶Confusion,
🤢Nausea
🥴Dizziness

If you or someone else experiences these symptoms, seek medical help immediately.

Let’s keep cool and stay safe this summer! 😎

Last June, Canadians showed up to move.💪

1,500+ organizations. 10,000+ events. 846,000 participants. 672 communities across every province and territory.

That's the scale of the ParticipACTION Community Challenge presented by Novo Nordisk - a national physical activity initiative proving that when communities come together, they move mountains (or at least, a lot of people).

So what can we do together in 2026? 💜
