Today, we recognize National Indigenous Peoples Day.

Turning Leaf Support Services honours the cultures, histories, strength, resilience, and rights of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Peoples.

As part of our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation, we continue to listen, learn, acknowledge the harms of the past, and move forward in partnership with Indigenous employees, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, communities, and the people we support.

Today and every day, we walk this path with respect, accountability, and care.

At Turning Leaf, unconditional acceptance means standing with people as they are, and helping build communities where everyone can feel safe, respected, and seen.

This month and every month, we celebrate dignity, inclusion, and the right for every person to live as their full self.

Direct Support Professionals help shape the feeling of the spaces we create. They build trust, offer steady support, and help people feel comfortable, respected, and welcomed.

In this video, we’re highlighting Renee, a DSP whose warmth is felt by everyone around her. She has one of those laughs people recognize right away, and it reflects the energy, care, and connection she brings to her work.

We’re grateful for the dedication our DSPs bring to their roles and the difference they make across Turning Leaf.

We’re recognizing the people who bring patience, compassion, and consistency into the lives of others every single day.

To our DSPs across Turning Leaf, thank you for the care you provide, the relationships you build, and the way you help create belonging and community. The work you do matters, and we’re grateful for all of it.

This week marks both Mental Health Week and the beginning of Mental Health Awareness Month.

At Turning Leaf, we see every day how important connection, community, and belonging truly are. Sometimes a conversation, a check-in, or simply knowing someone is there can make a bigger difference than people realize.

This year’s Mental Health Week theme from the CMHA is “Come Together,” focusing on the role connection plays in strengthening mental health and reducing isolation.

Whether it’s reaching out to someone, taking a moment for yourself, or supporting people around you, small things can make a real difference.

Today is International Harm Reduction Day.

Some people believe harm reduction encourages drug use. In reality, harm reduction is about keeping people safe, reducing harm, and helping people move toward positive change.

Harm reduction is about dignity, compassion, and meeting people where they’re at without judgment. It recognizes that every person has a story, and that support, connection, and safety can be the first steps toward change.

When people feel seen instead of stigmatized, they’re more likely to reach out, trust others, and access support.
