End BSL Manitoba are a group of local citizens working together with WHS and WAS to create a kinder, safer Winnipeg inclusive to all—with an evidence-based, breed neutral RPO, focused on dog behaviour and known "at risk" factors for dog aggression. Calgary was a world leader in animal control best practices for 20 years, under the leadership of Bill Bruce. They had a revenue-neutral program, a high level of community engagement, and the lowest bite rate in North America. With changes in management and a declining economy, unfortunately these successes have waned in recent years, but Mr. Bruce’s track record is impressive and the bylaw remains strong. Our goal is to not only get breed-specific legislation removed from Manitoba, but to have proper responsible pet ownership (RPO) guidelines that include all animals along with stronger education and resources to help make sure these new guidelines are successful. This list includes:

- Breed Neutral Bylaws/No breed bans
- Stricter and larger fines and penalties for
irresponsible owners
- Stronger and enforced regulations for
irresponsible breeders (to shut down
backyard breeders and puppy mills)
- Evidence-based Responsible Pet Ownership improvements that
focus on known "risk factors" for dog aggression and irresponsible
owners — including "At risk" and "Dangerous dog" categories.
- Low cost training classes for dogs and owners
- Widely available low/no cost spay and neuter
for owners
- Public Education programs in schools
- Proper and enforced leash laws and
anti-tethering laws
- Animal licensing incentive programs

We at End BSL Manitoba believe that by having Animal Control & Bylaw Services enact and enforce a Responsible Pet Ownership bylaw and eliminating the breed-specific bylaw, that pet owners and other citizens will be able to live together in safety and peace.

ADOPTABLE REDMOND!

One of the Boston 26, Redmond arrived at BTRC with a whole lot of “normal dog stuff” still to discover.

And Red has been BUSY. ❤️

He’s learned to play. He’s become a master on leash. He’s discovered the joys of car rides, hanging out with canine buddies and keeping tabs on when his foster parents get home. And somewhere along the way, this once-timid little guy started showing everyone just how loving, funny and wonderfully sweet he really is.

Redmond is still learning and gaining confidence, but he’s come an awfully long way. Now this handsome three-year-old is ready for his next big discovery: his very own forever home.

We are in need of dog bedding. We have added some blankets and dog beds to our Amazon wishlist. This puppy is bleeding all over his bedding and we are washing there very few items we have left.

If anyone has any old sheets, towels, blankets to donate, you can do so at the following locations;

•Pet Valu Cold Lake/Bonnyville/Meadow Lake

We also need high quality puppy food. This little guy is pretty depressed in his kennel. He does get let out to go to the bathroom but otherwise he needs to stay quarantined for a couple weeks. Any toys or stuffies you can donate would probably make him quite happy.
