Initiatives For Just Communities

Initiatives For Just Communities Initiatives For Just Communities is a charitable, non-profit organization.

Our four programs focus on individuals with intellectual disabilities and/or Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, as well as people who are currently or were formerly in prison around Manitoba. Our programs engage people who have a heart for caring for others, whether they are volunteers or employees, in walking alongside our clients on their life’s journey. We encourage our staff and volunteers to li

ve out their faith by working through the values of human dignity, peace, integrity and through a Restorative Justice lens. Touchstone FASD: A program that provides support to adults and families living with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder as well as providing FASD awareness training to a variety of community groups. El’Dad Ranch: A residential and day program on an acreage by Steinbach, MB that provides a positive alternative to institutionalization for people with intellectual disabilities. Open Circle: A program that seeks to provide relationships of integrity and faith for prisoners and people who have committed offenses. Circles of Support & Accountability (CoSA): A program that works to enhance community safety by creating circles of support and accountability around people with high-risk offense cycles after their release from a correctional institution.

IJC proudly celebrated the grand opening of our Winnipeg location on Wednesday, April 1—a significant milestone for our organization. We were honoured to welcome Nahanni Fontaine, Manitoba’s Minister of Families, who shared thoughtful remarks, along with representatives from several valued community partners, including the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, Winnipeg School Division, MB Liquor and Lotteries, 1JustCity, and many others. We are deeply grateful to everyone who joined us and continues to support our work!
