🚨 CMP Welcomes Manitoba Government’s Recognition of Anti-Palestinian Racism

Canadian Muslims for Palestine (CMP) warmly welcomes the announcement made on October 14, 2026, at the Manitoba Legislative Building in Winnipeg by Minister Nellie Kennedy, Premier Wab Kinew, and the Manitoba NDP government recognizing anti-Palestinian racism (APR) within the provincial government.

For Muslims, Palestinians, and their allies, anti-Palestinian racism is not an abstract concept. It is felt in the silencing of Palestinian voices, the dismissal of Palestinian suffering, and the discrimination faced by those who speak up for Palestinian rights and dignity. Anti-Palestinian racism is deeply intertwined with Islamophobia, and confronting Islamophobia requires us to recognize and challenge the ways Palestinians are targeted, marginalized, and dehumanized.

This announcement brings hope that the experiences and voices of Palestinians will be heard and taken seriously. We welcome this recognition and look forward to seeing it translated into meaningful policies, concrete action, and effective enforcement, with clear mechanisms for accountability.

Recognition matters. But its true significance will be measured by the changes it brings to people's lives: whether Palestinian voices are heard, their dignity protected, and their experiences of racism addressed with the seriousness they deserve.

We welcome this step forward and look forward to the work that must follow. Recognition is the beginning; meaningful and lasting change must be the goal.

Palestinian Lives Matter. Our Government Must Acknowledge Them. 🇵🇸

A coalition of Manitoba social justice organizations has issued an open letter to Premier Wab Kinew and the Manitoba NDP government, challenging the continued erasure of Palestinian lives and the failure to adequately recognize their suffering.

We call on our government to acknowledge the mass killing of Palestinians, condemn anti-Palestinian racism, and uphold the dignity and humanity of all communities. Silence is not solidarity. Palestinian lives deserve equal recognition.

🚨 Action Alert: Call on Prime Minister Carney to Acknowledge Palestinian Suffering and Islamophobia 🚨

Prime Minister Carney’s October 7 statement acknowledged Israeli suffering but completely ignored Palestinian lives lost and suffering endured over the past 78 years.

It also addressed antisemitism without acknowledging Islamophobia or the safety concerns of Muslim Canadians.

We must speak out against this double standard and demand leadership that recognizes the dignity, rights, and safety of all people.

Send a letter to call on the Prime Minister and your Member of Parliament to acknowledge Palestinian suffering, condemn Islamophobia with equal urgency, and uphold human rights without exception.

COMMEMORATING THREE YEARS OF GENOCIDE IN GAZA

Today, we gathered at the Manitoba Legislative Building to commemorate three years of genocide in Gaza. It was a deeply emotional gathering, but also one filled with hope, solidarity, and an unwavering determination to continue standing with Palestine.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to UM Socialists for organizing this important gathering, and to our speakers from Op Ed, Independent Jewish Voices-Winnipeg, Justice for Cassie Camp, and Canadian Muslims for Palestine for sharing their voices, insights, and commitment to justice.

To everyone who joined us today: thank you for continuing to show up. Thank you for refusing to look away, for keeping Palestine in your hearts, and for standing together in the face of unimaginable suffering.

Three years plus an additional seventy-five years since 1948 have passed, and our conviction remains firm. We will continue to speak out, organize, advocate, and work for justice and freedom for the Palestinian people.

From Winnipeg to Palestine, our solidarity remains unshaken.

🚨 Action Alert: Defend Canadians' Rights to Criticize Zionism and Foreign Governments

The Government of Canada has recently announced new commitments to combat antisemitism that include addressing anti-Zionism as a contemporary manifestation of antisemitism.

While antisemitism must be firmly opposed, Canadians must also remain free to criticize political ideologies—including Zionism—and the policies and actions of foreign governments, including Israel.

Take action and ask Prime Minister Mark Carney and Minister of Public Safety Gary Anandasangaree to affirm that legitimate political criticism is protected under the Charter.

Delegations from 77 countries walked out of the UN General Assembly hall as Benjamin Netanyahu began his speech, leaving rows of empty seats in a mass rejection of the ICC-wanted Israeli prime minister amid the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
