📅 What Happened Today in Computer History? 💻

On this day in 1997, Dell entered the workstation market, bringing powerful desktop computers to engineers and other professionals.

As the Computer History Museum notes:
"Dell Computer Corp. announced its entry into the workstation market with the Dell Workstation 400. The move to the more powerful desktop computers, most commonly used for engineering, followed Dell's entry into the network server industry as it expanded from personal desktop computers and laptops in order to grab a larger part of the market. Dell offered its workstations for $3,000 to $8,000."

At C4SMB, we give computers a second life by refurbishing donated technology and providing low-cost computers to Manitobans who need them.

34,000+ pounds of e-waste are on their way to being responsibly processed—and that's just one shipment.

When you donate to Computers for Schools Manitoba, you're creating paid opportunities for youth, reducing e-waste, and helping more Manitobans access affordable technology.

Whenever possible, donated equipment is refurbished and given a second life. Anything beyond repair is responsibly recycled in Canada.

We're especially looking for laptops and monitors that can be refurbished and put back into the hands of those who need them most.

Have equipment to donate? Drop it off at 18 Terracon Place in Winnipeg, or contact us to arrange a pickup for larger donations. Questions? Call 204-988-1790.

Once it’s on the curb, it’s taken as-is — often damaged, handled roughly, or sent straight to recycling.

Donate it first — while it still has a chance to be refurbished and reused. 💻

C4SMB accepts laptops, desktops, monitors, and more.
We refurbish usable equipment for people who need it, and responsibly recycle the rest right here in Canada. 🍁

Students trying to learn.
