The WYO is comprised of three distinct orchestras allowing youth of varying age and skill level to participate:

Youth Strings:
Conducted by Keith Dyrda, this beginner level string orchestra introduces young violinists, violists, cellists and bassists to the basics of orchestral playing. One of the many highlights Youth Strings members can look forward to is a weekend at camp where orchestral skil

ls and friendships are formed. Youth Concert Orchestra:
Conducted by Andrea Bell, this intermediate level orchestra incorporates strings, brass, winds and percussion allowing its members to further their orchestral training. Youth Symphony Orchestra:
Conducted by Andrea Bell, this full symphonic orchestra brings talented musicians together and lets them appreciate and be inspired by advanced orchestral music.

We have been quiet lately, but lots have happened behind the scenes post concerts and auditions. The WYO team is looking forward to welcome new and returning musicians back into our rehearsal spaces. Our music directors have been working diligently to plan for the next season. Audition results will be sent out to everyone who has auditioned in May between today (June 12, 2026) and the weekend.

Our 2025/26 Season Finale Concert is happening tonight! 7 pm (Central time) at Desautels Concert Hall (150 Dafoe Road). Tickets sales link 🔗 in bio! There is a fundraising raffles as well! Come watch the musicians perform and enter raffles to enter the draw to some wonderful prizes!

Our musicians performed beautifully tonight at the Knox United Church as part of the MCO pre-concert series. What a wonderful event celebrating music making! Even more special when our musicians were able to perform in front of their role model - Canadian violinist, . The musicians even performed the happy birthday song for him! Our young musicians definitely left feeling inspired by the concert tonight! Thank you MCO for having us, and Winnipeg for being such a great audience! !
