It was a profound honour for UCC to meet with Natan Aser, who ran from the Ukrainian Consulate in Toronto to the Ukrainian Embassy in Ottawa in honour of the memory of his son, Fallen Hero Benjamin Aser аnd all the Heroes who gave their lives for Ukraine’s freedom. Natan Aser completed his run on June 5.

Benjamin Aser was Killed in Action in May 2025 in Kharkiv oblast defending Ukraine’s freedom. He was 21 years old. Benjamin Aser was awarded posthumously for courage by Ukraine and was awarded the Ukrainian Canadian Sacrifice Medal in February 2026. Герої Не Вмирають. Вічная Пам’ять. 🕯️

Тhe Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) expresses condolences on the passing of Dr. Peter Joseph Potichnyj. Dr. Potichnyj passed away on June 3, 2026, at the age of 96.

We ask God to remember Dr. Potichnyj’s family during this difficult time and to grant Dr. Peter Potichnyj eternal life in His Heavenly Home.

On June 4, the world marks the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression. In Ukraine, June 4 is also the Day of Commemoration for Children who were murdered by Russia in Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. 🕯️

Part of Russia’s campaign of genocide against Ukraine is the forcible abduction and deportation of Ukrainian children. The mass, systemic abduction of Ukrainian children is one of Russia’s most monstrous crimes against humanity.
