Common Ground Research Forum

Common Ground Research Forum A five year community-based research program operating in Kenora and surrounding First Nations

The Common Ground Research Forum is a Community – University Research Alliance project funded through the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. Our purpose is to provide research that will support ongoing, sustainable, equitable management of natural resources in the Kenora area. Specifically, we fund student and community-led projects that bring Aboriginal, Metis and non-Abor

iginal people together to learn, understand and work toward managing land, water, and other resources together. Most of our projects focus on, or involve Tunnel Island and Old Fort Island in Kenora as this land is a perfect model for equitable resource sharing given that it is co-owned and co-managed by our primary project partners, Grand Council Treaty #3, City of Kenora, Obashkaandagaang First Nation, Ochiichagwe'babigo'ining Ojibway Nation and Wauzhushk Onigum Nation.
