Nurse Sian is back for another video! With HIV having been declared a public health emergency in Manitoba last month it’s important to practice harm reduction strategies. Here are some ways to keep yourself and your partners safe:

(1) Work with your healthcare provider to ensure you are taking the proper medications to keep an undetectable viral load (antiretroviral therapy) or preventative medications (PrEP) if your partner is positive for HIV.

(2) Use condoms

(3) Communicate with sexual partners about STBBI testing results

(4) Use clean needles and do not share with others if using substances

(5) Get routine STBBI testing at your local health clinic or walk in

HIV is a treatable and preventable virus. Come see our sexual health nurses for testing or if you have any questions about your sexual health!
