Six months after the successful conclusion of the Healthy Teeth, Healthy Life Project in February 2025, the dedicated team of dentists and their support staff returned to Ibaba Elementary School in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro. On Thursday, August 28, they conducted a second round of fluoride applications aimed at enhancing the dental health of the schoolchildren.
This initiative was spearheaded by the highly skilled Dr. Nelia M. Cantos, Dr. Leo L. Espallardo, and Dr. Josephine B. Rayos, whose unwavering commitment and expertise were instrumental in delivering essential oral health services. They were joined by their enthusiastic team members—King Jeffrey Malinao, Elvis Castromero, Mervin Canja, and Ricardo Silao, Jr.—whose hard work ensured the smooth ex*****on of the event. The schoolteachers also played a crucial role as dedicated volunteers, fostering a sense of community involvement as the pupils eagerly participated in the activities and received the fluoride treatments.
Fluoride application is a professional dental procedure designed to prevent cavities and significantly improve overall dental health. These treatments are recommended at varying intervals of 3, 6, or 12 months, tailored to each child's specific oral health needs.
The dentists emphasized the importance of good oral hygiene to the children, encouraging them to brush their teeth at least twice a day and visit the dentist at least once a year.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro and Executive Director Mac Landicho, as well as Stephanine, Ariadne Dane, and Aeica, for their support. A special thank you also goes to Ms. Nanette L. Reis for her generous donation of electric fans in February, which contributed to a more comfortable learning environment for pupils and teachers.
