Meals on Wheels Winnipeg In 1965, the Home Welfare Association made a commitment to deliver nutritious meals to seniors in Winnipeg.

Today Meals on Wheels champions that commitment, delivering hundreds of meals 365 days a year to Winnipeg’s homebound and vulnerable citizens.

Volunteer Delivery Drivers Needed – Meals on Wheels Winnipeg

Meals on Wheels is looking for Volunteer Delivery Drivers to help deliver meals in the downtown and Health Sciences Centre (HSC) areas.

Deliveries run daily from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and most routes have 10–17 stops, making them easy to complete in about 1.5 to 2 hours. Our clients come from a wide range of backgrounds, ethnicities, socioeconomic situations, and health circumstances. Whether they live in apartments or houses, they are incredibly grateful for the volunteers who help deliver the meals they depend on each day.

While we deliver from 8 hospitals and 3 care homes across Winnipeg, our greatest need is at HSC Monday through Friday, where we currently have 33 routes available for the remainder of June and 128 routes open throughout July and August.

We recognize that poverty and addiction can be more visible in the downtown core, and some delivery locations may be less comfortable than others. However, every client relies on these meals, regardless of where they live. We stay closely connected with our HSC volunteers, prioritize their safety, and address any concerns promptly with their input.

Volunteers receive:
° A $7 gas honorarium per route, paid by cheque every three months
° A brief introductory information session
° A staff ride-along on your first route
° A free background check voucher
° Access to our easy-to-use online Scheduler system for signing up for routes
° Opportunities to win free tickets to the Bombers, Goldeyes, Moose, and other community attractions (when available)

Rain or shine, storm or blue skies, our volunteers will be out delivering meals to Winnipeggers who may not have the means to prepare their own.
