The Honourable Patrica Bovey speaks to the history and future of your rights as an artist. A one-day presentation celebrating 50 years of CARFAC Manitoba

This presentation with the honourable Patrica Bovey will bring together local artists, cultural workers and community leaders in Manitoba to discuss the current legal rights of artists in Canada.
These rights include the Copy Right Act, the Artists Resale Right (recently added to the federal budget) and the ongoing fight to bring BILL S – 208 An Act respecting the Declaration on the Essential Role of Artists and Creative Expression in Canada to fruition.
Engage in meaningful dialogue and understanding about artists rights to fair compensation and representation!. To celebrate 50 years of CARFAC Manitoba!

Patricia Bovey has contributed to Canadian visual arts as an advocate, museologist, author, gallery director, curator, professor and member of Canada’s Senate. Bovey served as director of the Winnipeg Art Gallery and the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, as founding Director/Curator of the Galerie Buhler Gallery, and on the boards of the University of Manitoba, the National Gallery of Canada, Emily Carr University and the Canada Council for the Arts. Her recent book, Western Voices in Canadian Art, is a ground-breaking text that documents the works of artists from Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia from the 19th century to the present.

This card allows free or discounted admission to many galleries and museums in countries around the world. The card is a tool for the lifelong education of artists in their professional artistic research.

These certificates identify original works of art of Canadian origin, allowing them to be temporarily exported abroad without GST implications. Approved by Revenue Canada and Customs and Excise, it is valid only when signed by another CARFAC member and signed and sealed by the CARFAC National office.

Please note that these certificates are for the process of returning artwork to Canada. Additional forms are often required to allow artwork to enter a foreign country. You should start this process at least a month in advance to ensure you have everything you need.

The Prairie Webinar Series is proud to prioritize the expertise of artists working in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, promoting discussion with our provincial neighbours on various topics while sharing investment in prairie perspectives. The formula is simple: look forward to two 25-minute presentations from two artists speaking to their practice and their experience with a given discussion topic, followed by a 30-minute Q&A period.
