The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30 marks a moment to focus on the ongoing work of remembering the painful history of the Residential School system in Canada, honouring the Survivors, and untangling colonialism as we work toward a better future.

Sharing stories is one way we can reflect and connect as well as learn from one another.

Our colleagues at Plume Winnipeg will be launching the newly named Winnipeg Book Festival with a special project called Story Lodge. This important project features 7 Indigenous storytellers from across Turtle Island sharing their journey as storytellers.

Plume Winnipeg is thrilled to announce that the opening event for the Winnipeg Book Festival will be a premiere screening of two videos from the STORY LODGE project!

Join Rosanna Deerchild and contributors for this wonderful FREE premiere screening. 12:00 - 2:00PM at The Forks Event Space.

STORY LODGE is a seven-part video series that is part instructional, part inspirational. The series features Indigenous storytellers from across Turtle Island, each working in different literary mediums, styles and genres. These master storytellers share how they write, why they write and with a strong focus on telling stories through an Indigenous lens.

Story Lodge was co-created by Rosanna Deerchild (Cree) and Kim Wheeler (Anishinaabe/Mohawk) when they saw the need for Indigenous storytellers to have a space to share their journey as storytellers and to offer encouragement and instruction to Indigenous youth, especially those living outside of urban centres.

📚 Le Salon du livre, c’est aussi l’occasion de découvrir celles et ceux qui publient, diffusent et font circuler les livres en français.

Les maisons d’édition jouent un rôle essentiel dans la création, la publication et la diffusion des œuvres. Elles accompagnent les auteur·e·s et contribuent à faire connaître des histoires et des perspectives issues de différentes communautés francophones.

Plus de 15 exposants, incluant de nombreuses maisons d’éditions, seront réunis les 19 et 20 septembre à l’Université de Saint-Boniface :

Et ce n’est pas tout : des auteur·e·s seront également sur place pour présenter leurs ouvrages, échanger avec le public et participer aux séances de dédicaces.

📚 Le Festival du livre francophone du Manitoba est de retour du 15 au 26 septembre 2026!

Pendant près de deux semaines, la littérature francophone sera à l’honneur avec une programmation destinée aux enfants, aux adolescents et aux adultes.

Au programme : activités littéraires, rencontres avec des auteur·e·s, programme scolaire, table ronde, théâtre radiophonique, slam, lectures, création et, les 19 et 20 septembre, le Salon du livre francophone.

Cette nouvelle édition souhaite faire du livre un espace de rencontre, d’imaginaire et de transmission, tout en célébrant des auteur·e·s d’ici et d’ailleurs.
