Once again the Service Battalion Senate, Inc is going to award a Performance Recognition Award to a deserving member of 17 Service Company of 38 Service Battalion. Any Company member filling a leadership position may nominate a subordinate for this award. Attached find the award poster and the nomination form. Nominations must be submitted to the Senate through the Orderly Room by 10 November.

Once again the Service Battalion Senate, Inc is offering a scholarship to a deserving member of 17 Service Company of 38 Service Battalion that is enrolled in a post secondary education program. Attached is a poster and the application form. The award will be presented at the annual Soldiers' Holiday Dinner. Applications must be forwarded to the Senate through the Battalion Orderly Room.

On Saturday, June 20, Senate members Capt (ret'd) Tim Klumper, Maj (ret'd) Ervin Gerbrandt and LCol (ret'd) Dale Watts participated in an Indigenous Reconciliation Day event at Building 90 at CFB Winnipeg with a collective unit history book sale. About 25 vendors exhibited their items. Although about 3,000 were projected the actual traffic inside the gym was limited.

On Monday, 15 June 26, the Winnipeg Grenadiers Cadet Corps (WGCC) held their 77th Annual Ceremonial Review (ACR) at Building 21, 17 Wing Winnipeg. Senate members Capt (ret’d) Tim Klumper, LCol (ret’d) Dale Watts and Major (ret’d) Ervin Gerbrandt participated in the ceremony by presenting awards. LCol Richard Kang, Commanding Officer of 38 Service Battalion, and the Parade Reviewing Officer, also presented awards. Forty-three cadets were on parade."

“On Saturday, 30 May 26, several Winnipeg Army Reserve units, including 116 Independent Field Battery, Kenora, participated in a collective unit history book sale during Doors Open Winnipeg at Strachan (formerly McGregor) Armouries, McGregor and Machray. Visitors had the opportunity to purchase several unit histories bundled together for the bargain price of $130. The unit history books offered were Facta Non Verba and Vanguard (FGH), The History of the Militia in Kenora (116 Fd Bty), Ladies from Hell and The Lion Rampant (QOCH), Named by the Enemy (R Wpg Rifs), and United in Effort (38 Svc Bn). Another collective history book sale will be held on Saturday, 20 June just west of Bldg 90 at CFB Winnipeg (outside the base) for those unable to attend on 30 May.”

On Saturday, 28 Mar 26, several members of the Service Battalion Senate and two spouses enjoyed a delicious Vietnamese meal at the Pho Hoang Restaurant at 794 Sargent Avenue. Many thanks to Barb Gillis for organizing the dinner and selecting the restaurant.

On 16 March 26, Senate Secretary and Cadet Liaison Officer from the Service Battalion Senate, Capt (ret’d) Tim Klumper, presented two refurbished drill canes to WO Adekoya (left) and Cpl Kamptoum (right) of the WGCC. These refurbished drill canes represent the Senate’s 2025 gift to the #526 Winnipeg Grenadiers Cadet Corps. The top of the drill canes is a 20mm cannon shell casing on which is engraved “526 WGCC and “ADSUM” at the top and bottom of a Grenadiers badge. At the bottom of the shell casing is “WSB Senate.
