On World Teachers’ Day, we’re celebrating the teachers who encourage curiosity, build confidence and help students see what’s possible.

🤔 What helps a young person stay engaged in learning ? Not just present, but curious, confident and wanting to know more?

There probably isn’t one answer. But relevance can matter.

When young people have opportunities to explore careers, try something with their own hands and meet people working in different fields, the connection between what they learn today and where it could lead tomorrow can become easier to see.

One parent described watching their son come home from Career Trek Summer Camp each day eager to share what he had learned: “From building a birdhouse in carpentry and creating a model open mine with a civil engineering instructor, to learning traditional beading while exploring Indigenous Resource Management, each day offered new opportunities to learn and grow.”

That excitement is worth paying attention to 👀

Part of strengthening student engagement is creating more moments where learning feels relevant, possibilities feel real and young people have something ahead of them they’re excited to explore.

September 30 is a time to remember, listen and reflect on our shared responsibility for truth and reconciliation.

We honour the children who never returned home from residential schools, the Survivors, and their families and communities. We recognize the lasting impacts of residential schools and the importance of listening to Indigenous voices, learning the truth and carrying that learning into our actions.

Career Trek offices will be closed on September 30 as we take time for reflection and learning. Our commitment to reconciliation continues beyond this day, through our relationships and our work with young people and communities. 🧡
