Our friends at Winnipeg Trails are hosting this great event called “Cycleloopia” on Sunday, September 27 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at Fort Whyte Alive.
VIRN will have a couple of tandem bikes there to try.

You are invited to Cycleloopia Fall 2026 – The Fort Whyte Edition! Come check out a beautiful location, meet some people, check out some rad wheels and celebrate all the ways we can cycle together. Come show off your wheels, ride a loop around the park, grab a bite to eat and enjoy the vibes. The focus of the event is on the many ways we cycle, with an emphasis on sharing adaptive bicycles and techniques. Everyone welcome. This year we will also have a “framerunner” on hand for folks to check out or try!

What: We are encouraging everyone to bring their cycles out and extras to share if they have them that people can check out or try.

1:00pm – Campfire will be lit and while we finish unloading.

2:00pm – Start time for a loop ride around the park.

4:00pm – End

Who: You! All kinds of people and all kinds of cycles. This event is designed for persons with disabilities and their friends or family as well as everyone who wants to cycle and celebrate all the ways we can ride together.

Why is the city of Winnipeg making it harder for people with low vision and other sensory disabilities to get around?

in consultation with us the city asked about art placement on streets and sidewalks
We clearly said, please don’t place art work and multi coloured designs on the surfaces of streets, sidewalks and bridges.

It is very confusing to navigate and makes it hard for us to find anything to use for wayfinding.

See these photos below the paint is already pealing making it even harder to safety walk around without worrying about tripping or falling.

This whole area is on Graham Ave.from Garry St going west where there are no vehicles it Is for pedestrians only.

We love art and very much appreciate the work that artists do, but putting beautiful art where it is walked on and you cannot see the whole detail unless from above and creates challenges for others makes no sense whatsoever.

it is extremely challenging!
