🌟 Our instructors made an incredible Spring & Summer possible! 🌟

From classrooms to camps and communities across Manitoba, our WISE Kid-Netic Energy instructors brought energy, creativity, curiosity and a genuine passion for working with youth everywhere they went. We still have a few more amazing team members to celebrate!

Meet Rowben! 👋 Rowben joined WISE Kid-Netic Energy as an instructor during the school year and continued bringing his enthusiasm for STEM into our Spring and Summer programming.

This past summer marked his first experience as a WISE Summer Camp instructor! Rowben entered his third year of General Science at the University of Manitoba and hopes to pursue a career in neonatology, caring for and supporting the health of newborn babies. Outside of science, you could usually find him singing his heart out at karaoke nights with friends or cooking with his family!

Our programming would not be what it is without engaging, dedicated instructors who genuinely care about young people. They are not only there to teach STEM, our instructors encourage curiosity, build confidence, create welcoming spaces and serve as incredible role models for the youth they work with.

And now that school is back in session, we’re excited to bring another incredible team of instructors into classrooms across Manitoba as we continue the STEM outreach work WISE Kid-Netic Energy is dedicated to all year long!

September 1st might be here… but we’re NOT done with summer highlights yet!

We had way too many incredible camp moments not to keep sharing them! Here are a few snapshots from our Thompson & Flin Flon STEM Camps!

We LOVE getting the opportunity to bring hands-on science, technology, engineering & STEM fun to communities across Manitoba and seeing young learners explore, build, experiment, create and discover along the way!

A huge thank you to our incredible crew of instructors, our communities and our supporters like the network for helping make our year-round programming possible!

And yes… we still have MORE summer memories to share!

Looking back on Week 3 of Summer Camp, July 20–23, and what a week it was! Another week where WISE Kid-Netic Energy was in two places at once! We hosted an incredible camp at the University of Manitoba while another group of campers was exploring STEM in Morden, Manitoba, just south of Winnipeg.

From exploring machine learning and flying drones to discovering the science behind movement, our campers spent the week asking questions, experimenting, building, and getting curious about the world around them.

At the University of Manitoba, campers even got a surprise movement break with the Price Faculty of Engineering’s Research Robots "Normi"! Campers learn from Normi, a humanoid robot that focuses on the incredibly complex challenge of replicating realistic human movement on a robot. Thank you Price Faculty of Engineering for the fun opportunity!

Our campers also had an incredible session with Dr. Cheryl Glazebrook and her team from the Faculty of Kinesiology and Recreation Management, taking Sport Science Day even further. with eye-hand coordination through gaze tracking and 3D motion capture, balance control and movement technology, portable Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs), and how decision-making and motor skills connect through interactive activities. Thank you

We hear it time and time again: people remember their time in WISE Kid-Netic Energy programming for the rest of their lives.

Week 3 was one for the books. And we were only getting started. We've got MORE To post!!

We’re able to make experiences like these possible thanks to the incredible support of our network, Actua, and the University of Manitoba.

Their continued support helps WISE Kid-Netic Energy bring hands-on STEM experiences, inspiring mentors, innovative technology, and meaningful learning opportunities to youth across Manitoba.

Together, we’re helping young people explore what’s possible in STEM and creating experiences they’ll remember for years to come.

Looking back on Week 2 (July 13-16) of WISE Kid-Netic Energy Summer Camps was one to remember!

This week, we had the privilege of welcoming Indigenous youth to the University of Manitoba for a FREE week of hands-on STEM exploration. At the same time, another incredible team of instructors delivered FREE condensced STEM camps through the Ignite Program at two Pembina Trails School Division schools, bringing exciting learning experiences directly into their communities.

Throughout the week, campers:
• Flew drones
• Investigated organisms collected from local ponds
• Designed and tested airplanes
• Built engineering structures
• Explored the world of artificial intelligence
• And discovered so much more through hands-on STEM activities!

A special thank you to the Indigenous Student Centre at the University of Manitoba for welcoming our campers into the Mashkiki Gitigaan (Medicine Garden). Your generosity, knowledge, and hospitality helped create a meaningful experience that connected STEM with Indigenous knowledge, culture, and community.

Thank you to all of the campers, families, instructors, partners, and supporters who continue to make these opportunities possible. Seeing youth discover new passions, ask big questions, and build confidence in STEM is what inspires us every day.

Together with our national network, Actua, we're proud to help provide accessible, engaging STEM opportunities for youth across Manitoba.

What does STEM Camp mean to campers? Our instructors see it every day in our STEM Programming! Our Camps means curiosity, confidence, creativity, and a place where youth can explore what is possible.

Through hands-on challenges, experiments, teamwork, and discovery, STEM Camp creates opportunities for Manitoba youth to ask questions, try new things, and see themselves as future scientists, engineers, innovators, and problem-solvers.

Brought to communities across Manitoba by our WISE Kid-Netic Energy Instructor Team at the University of Manitoba, with the support of our national network, Actua , our camps are designed to make STEM accessible, engaging, and inspiring for youth everywhere.

A huge thank you to our incredible instructors who bring energy, mentorship, and passion to every camp and to all of the campers and families who join us in exploring the world of STEM!
