SSOCC develops and supports local activities and education related to sustainable local food systems and greater community sustainability.

Sustainable South Osborne Community Coop (SSOCC) supports and creates activities and education related to sustainable local food systems in Winnipeg's South Osborne community, through the South Osborne Permaculture Commons. Derivatives, such as biodiversity, active transportation and energy efficiency, that promote greater community sustainability and reduced fossil fuel dependency are also promot

ed through SSOCC's management of the South Osborne Permaculture Commons and other community engagement initiatives. Come on down to South Osborne for our Fruit Tree Pruning Workshop this April!

Churchill Drive Food Forest
250 Churchill Drive, Winnipeg, MB

This is an outdoor event, dress for the weather!
If the event is cancelled due to inclement weather, Saturday April 12th and 18th are the rain dates.
Join Carl Durand from Futura Farms as he gives expert instruction in fruit tree pruning techniques at our Food Forest! Whether you have your own fruit trees to manage or just want to learn something new, this is a great opportunity to get outside and enjoy our beautiful orchard space.
We will have a limited number of tools available (loppers, saws, secateurs), so if you have your own please bring them! It’s best to learn using the equipment you would be using at home.
Register below to save your spot, as this workshop has a limited capacity! We will be contacting you to complete payment and registration 1-2 business days after filling out this form. (Payments will be via e-transfer)
Workshop pricing is on a tiered scale, as follows:
$10 - Minimum cost required for us to host the workshop (Supplies, facilitation fee)
$15 - Recommended price
$20 - Entry plus a donation! This will help us host more workshops in the future, and buy 5 more seedlings to plant this year!

We will be taking photos of the event for social media and promotion, if you do not wish to be included in these photos let us know on the day of the event or email us at [email protected]. Likewise, feel free to email us if you have any questions!
