Congratulations to Chief Petty Officer First Class Lilia Tseragotin of #25 RCSCC Crusader on being named the Royal Canadian Legion Cadet of the Year!

As Coxswain of her corps, a dedicated member of the marksmanship team, and a Sail Staff member with the Regional Cadet Support Unit, Lilia consistently demonstrates exceptional leadership, dedication, and service, teaching junior cadets the fundamentals of sailing. Beyond her cadet responsibilities, she volunteers and fundraises for various organizations such as Gimli Yacht Club, where she supports sail training, assists with rigging and de-rigging boats and upholds safety standards.

Lilia has also participated in numerous Cadet Training Centre (CTC) and Regional Directed Activity (RDA) programs, including Sail 1, staffing at Quadra CTC, and the 2022 Northeastern Area Cadet Activity Program. As a participant in the Advanced Leadership Program, she continues to strengthen her leadership, decision-making, and team management skills.

Lilia embodies the values of the Cadet Program through her commitment, professionalism, and passion for helping others succeed. We are incredibly proud of her outstanding achievement and congratulate her on this well-deserved honour!

Félicitations à la Première maître de 1re classe Lilia Tseragotin du #25 CCMRC Crusader, récipiendaire du Prix du Cadet de l’année de la Légion royale canadienne!

À titre de capitaine d’armes (Coxswain) de son corps, de membre dévouée de l’équipe de tir de précision et de membre du personnel de voile de l’Unité régionale de soutien aux cadets, Lilia fait constamment preuve d’un leadership, d’un dévouement et d’un esprit de service exceptionnels. Elle transmet également aux jeunes cadets les notions fondamentales de la voile. En plus de ses responsabilités au sein du programme des cadets, elle fait du bénévolat et participe à des activités de collecte de fonds pour divers organismes, notamment le Gimli Yacht Club, où elle appuie l’instruction à la voile, aide au gréement et au dégréement des embarcations et veille au respect des normes de sécurité.

Lilia a également participé à de nombreux programmes offerts dans les Centres d’entraînement des cadets (CEC) et dans le cadre des Activités dirigées à l’échelle régionale (ADER), notamment Voile 1, le poste de membre du personnel au CEC Quadra, ainsi que le Programme d’activités des cadets de la région du Nord-Est (CAP) de 2022. En tant que participante au Programme de leadership avancé, elle continue de développer ses compétences en leadership, en prise de décision et en gestion d’équipe.

Par son engagement, son professionnalisme et sa passion à aider les autres à réussir, Lilia incarne les valeurs du Programme des cadets. Nous sommes extrêmement fiers de cette réalisation remarquable et lui adressons nos plus sincères félicitations pour cet honneur pleinement mérité!

Maritime Careers Handbook Now Available!

The Navy League of Canada is pleased to announce the release of our new Maritime Careers Handbook - a valuable resource designed to help youth, educators, parents, and volunteers explore the wide range of rewarding opportunities available within Canada's maritime sector.

From the Royal Canadian Navy and Canadian Coast Guard to commercial shipping, marine engineering, shipbuilding, ocean sciences, ports, and emerging blue economy careers, this handbook provides an introduction to the diverse pathways that help keep Canada connected, secure, and prosperous.

Whether you are considering a future career on the water, supporting a young person in their career exploration journey, or simply interested in learning more about Canada's maritime industries, this publication offers helpful information and resources to get started.

The Navy League of Canada remains committed to promoting maritime awareness and helping young Canadians navigate opportunities for success both on and off the water.
