Westland Foundation "Empowering Inner-Winnipeg Youth Through Education" It plans on serving the community for the next 100 years and beyond.

The Students
The value of a scholarship is based on the "A" grades (80%+) that a student receives at the end of each year in Grades 7 through 12 (S4), in Inner Winnipeg schools. As the Education Fund grows, the focus will expand to provide scholarships to cover a student's entire first-year tuition fees. Ultimately, the goal is to provide scholarships that will carry a student throughout their und

ergraduate years of study. The Westland Foundation Education Fund is committed to creating post-secondary scholarships for Inner Winnipeg students.

Kaila Namit’s goal has always been clear. A graduate of Daniel McIntyre Collegiate Institute and a proud Westland Scholar, Kaila was inspired to become a nurse at a young age. Her mother and older sister, who both work in healthcare, and her father fully support her dream of pursuing nursing.

Today, she’s in her fourth year of the nursing program at the University of Manitoba, gaining real-world experience and building a future where she can care for others while creating stability for herself.

But the journey hasn’t been easy.

For her parents, supporting two children in nursing – one of the more demanding programs –came with real financial pressure. Like many immigrant families, Kaila’s parents are balancing multiple responsibilities, including supporting loved ones back home.

“The Westland Foundation Education Fund is massive financial aid,” Kaila shares. “With my accelerated program, it’s more difficult to work while in school. Although my family helps with tuition, it’s hard for them to manage everything. Westland’s scholarship support not only helps financially, but it also relieves the mental stress of my semester fees.”

For Kaila, this support means more than just covering costs – it means being able to focus, to keep going, and to believe in what’s possible.

Stories like Kaila’s are a reminder: a Westland scholarship is more than financial support—it’s a pathway to building your future and helping students turn determination into opportunity.

Applications for the Westland Foundation Education Fund scholarship open June 1 and close June 30 this year.

Every parent wants to see their child succeed and build a strong future.

For many inner-Winnipeg students, pursuing post-secondary education comes with real challenges. Rising costs and other barriers can make it harder to take that next step, even for students with strong goals and potential.

Access to financial support can make a big difference. That’s where the Westland Foundation Education Fund provides support.

Westland Foundation Education Fund scholarships provide financial support but so much more like the confidence to continue their education and the reassurance that their hard work truly matters. For parents, it brings peace of mind—knowing their child can move forward with stability and confidence in their future.
