On Monday, Diane Roussin, in partnership with Dr Jon McGavock, were pleased to host Winnipeg's inaugural Mikanah Gathering.

We shared food, laughter, and time on the land. Guided by Grandmother Helen’s teachings, community members learned about medicines and created their own medicine bags, carrying home both teachings and connections.

At the heart of Mikanah Gatherings is a simple but powerful belief: communities already hold the knowledge, strengths, and solutions needed to support collective wellbeing. By creating space to gather, learn, share, and reconnect with culture in urban environments, we strengthen belonging, self-determination, and community-led pathways to wellness.

Miigwech to everyone who joined us, shared their gifts, and helped create a welcoming space for one another. A special thank you to Grandmother Helen for sharing her time, knowledge, and teachings.

We believe the best ideas grow from the ground up, through relationships, shared knowledge, and communities leading the way. Today and every day, we celebrate Indigenous voices, cultures, and the power of coming together to create a better future.

What a busy Spring it has been over here at Winnipeg Boldness! 🌱✨

In April, we gathered with Sherry Copenance for bundle teachings, bringing together people from our guide groups to learn, connect and building understanding of their bundles.

We started off May by joining the Red Dress Day walk, honouring Mackaylah Gerard-Roussin and raising awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirit people.

We also supported the Moose Hide Campaign Day, sharing moose hide pins and helping spread awareness about ending domestic violence towards women and children.

There was plenty of creativity too, we made colourful Boldness tie-dye shirts with our Parent Guide Group! 🎨

CommUNITY.204™️ hosted the 2nd annual Circle of Unity Gathering at St. Johns park, bringing together community to connect, share resources, collaborate and uplift one another. 🌟

Our team members added to their bundles and learned to make drums with community facilitators Jeremy and Nathan!

At the Catalyst Finance Community Summit, our President & CEO Diane Roussin was a part the organizing of the Catalyst Finance Community Summit and had a session on Capital in relationships. Team members also participated in the Winnipeg Indigenous Land Experience walk with Dr. Brian Rice apart of the Catalyst Finance Community Summit.

From building our bundles and honouring our creative side to connection and community, April & May were full of meaningful moments. We’re excited for all the community engagement and celebrations that summer will bring! ☀️💛🌻
