Raise your hand if you're excited for Quilt Canada 2026 in Winnipeg, June 17-20th!! While you're there, make sure to check out the Winnipeg Modern Quilt Guild's concurrent show titled "Manitoba Modern".

22 of our members will have quilts on display in our show, exhibiting various aspects of modern quilting including one or more of the following elements: Bold use of colour, High contrast & graphic areas of colour, Minimalism, Maximalism, Improvisational piecing, Expansive negative space, Alternate grid work, Modern traditionalism.

Post 2 of 2 - At our last meet-up before we take a break for summer members' our members had lots of finished makes to share.

1 - Pam shared an incredible wall hanging made with a salvaged wooden centre with a line from her favourite John Keats poem engraved into it.

2 - Jennifer made a quilt that combined two different patterns "Wilderness" by AGF Studio, and "Up North" by Pen + Paper Patterns.

3 - Kirsty shared her "After Shock" quilt, pattern by Wren Collective.

4 - Carolyn showed off two matching quilts she made with a pattern from Tilda called "Sunday Bruch".

5 - Cassandra made the "Midsummer" mini quilt patter by .

6 - Holly shared her new "Ripple Chips" quilt, which is her brand new pattern.

Post 1 of 2 - At our last meet-up before we take a break for summer members' our members had lots of finished makes to share.

1 - Shelley shared 3 delightful baby quilts: "Neighbourhood", "Sweet Baby Bunny", and "Fish".

2 - Sheila made a pair of butterfly wall hangings to gift to twins.

3 - Pat shared the mini quilt she made for her "Marker Mania" quilt lecture.

4 - Ann showed us her finished quilt made at our spring Biscotti Quilts workshop with Brandon Wulff.

5 - Susan C. shared the quilt she made to donate to Launch Quilt along with a matching tote bag.

6-7 - Audrey shared 5 quilts made by our members to donate to Launch Quilts. Cindy made Country Roads, Lynn made a checkerboard quilt with soft flannel and a string quilt, Linda made a traditional house block quilt, and Kate made a a pink and brown scrap quilt.

At our April members' meet-up we had another wonderful show and tell showing off what we've been up to. A number of members showed us their finished quilt tops from our Spring "Biscotti Quilts" workshop with Brandon Wulff .

1 - Shelley shared her "Sisterhood" quilt with an emphasis on diversity that she made as a gift for a 4-year-old girl.

2-3 - Edith showed us her Biscotti workshop quilt top which she calls "Beet Borscht" and a large-scale gingham quilt she made to donate to the Launch Quilts project.

4 - Pat shared her adapted Biscotti workshop quilt top.

5 - Sheila made the Jonah Quilt which she calls a "non-traditional plaid".

6-7 - Cindy S. shared a mini improv quilt she made inspired by Jean Wells, as well as her finished Biscotti workshop quilt top.

8-9 - Melissa shared a quilt she made using a design from her own book, made with Tula Pink fabrics, as well as quilt she made to donate to Quilts of Valour Canada using her pattern designed for an online "mystery quilt along".

10 - Linda showed off her square patchwork quilt titled "Hope at the End of the Rainbow" which she designed and made for a submission into Quilt Canada.

Catching up on show and tell photos from March here. We had a fantastic all day sew-day in March but we carved out a bit of time for Show and Tell to see what everyone's been up to.

1 -3 - Leslie R. shared two "Meadowland" quilts designed by Then Came June as well as a baby quilt she made with woven fabric.

4 - Kirsty shared her finished "Once Upon a Garden" quilt designed by Alderwood Studio, with a delightfully pieced backing.

5 - Amanda used a fat quarter bundle to make the "Exploding Hearts" quilt designed by Slice of Pi Quilts.

6 - Brenda S. shared the "Launch Quilt" she made using donated fabrics, pin-basted and ready to quilt using bright pink thread.

7-8 - Audrey shared two "Launch Quilts": the first was a Tula Pink 100-day challenge, the second was a quilt top donated by Sharon which Audrey quilted.

9 - Susan shared her finished quilt top from the Brandon Wulff "Biscotti Quilt" workshop. She said it was the best workshop she's ever participated in!

10-11 - Donna also shared her finished quilt top from the Brandon Wulff "Biscotti Quilt" workshop and a cat bed she made with leftover scraps.

We are excited about our upcoming All Day Sew-Day
Saturday, March 14, (sorry, no ZOOM this month)
Riverview Community Centre
90 Ashland Avenue, 9am - 5pm

Join us this Saturday for our all day sew-day, the perfect way to focus your attention on a new project or WIP.

There will be lots of fun door prizes awarded throughout the day! Thank you to everyone who donated prize items.

The Executive will provide coffee and tea. Members are encouraged to bring their own lunch and beverages as well as any treats/snacks to share if desired.
