The Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Sport Institute Network (COPSIN) commends the Government of Canada for their commitment to and continued support of COPSIN, as announced by the Honourable Adam van Koeverden, Secretary of State for Sport, today in Winnipeg.

The Canadian Sport Centre Manitoba (CSCM) welcomed Secretary van Koeverden on Thursday, where he announced announced more than $17 million in funding for the Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Sport Institute Network (COPSIN) in 2026-27, which includes an additional $5.4 million this year.

This investment will enhance the support athletes receive, giving them greater access to physiology, nutrition, mental performance, sport medicine and expert coaching.

“The Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Sport Institute Network welcomes Sport Canada’s new investment. This funding recognizes the important role our institutes play in Canada’s sport system and strengthens our ability to work with National Sport Organizations, the COC, the CPC and other partners. We look forward to putting these resources to work in ways that deliver clear results for athletes, coaches and the communities we serve.”

CSCM is proud to cheer on Manitoba athletes Adam Buchwald and Soren Reid as they get ready for the RBC Training Ground National Final in Toronto next month.

Adam and Soren are two of the Top 100 athletes, selected from over 3100 athletes who participated at qualifying events across Canada this year.

The Canadian Mental Health Association Mental Health Week happens annually in May. For 2026, the theme is “Come Together, Canada – Stronger Connections. Better Mental Health”. Kevin Kristjanson, part of CSCM’s Sport Psychology team, has written a blog to expand on the theme with some additional insights for athletes.
