Recycling returns to The Pas, Manitoba♻️

♻️ CURBSIDE RECYCLING PICKUP IS STARTING!

Great news, Pas! 🎉 Starting August 17th,
Tri-Com Recycling will be beginning curbside recycling pickup around town!

📍 We’ll be following the same route as the regular garbage collection route, making it easy for you to know when to put your recycling out.

♻️ Here’s how you can help:

• Have your recycling ready on your regular garbage collection day
• Keep recyclables clean and free of garbage
• Make sure your recycling is easily accessible for our collection crew

♻️ Clean recycling = better recycling! By taking a few extra seconds to sort properly, you’re helping us keep more material out of the landfill and giving recyclable materials a second life.

Nothing beats a cold drink in this heat ⛱️

You can recycle paper and plastic takeout beverage cups, but not all cup lids are accepted for recycling in Manitoba.

Big recycling update ♻

Empty paper cups are now accepted for recycling across Manitoba.

This includes empty coffee cups, frozen beverage cups, fountain drink cups, and all other paper cups. Please remove the lid and empty the cup before recycling it. Paper sleeves can remain on coffee cups.

Remember that reducing is the best option. Lots of coffee shops and takeout restaurants will let you use your own cup, so bring a travel mug if you plan to get a drink on the go.

But if you forget it, or if you spontaneously stop for a cold drink this summer, please recycle your paper cup. 🩵💚

How much residue is acceptable??

An acceptable amount is about 10% or less of a container’s inside surface. The right side of the container in the picture is a good example. You can achieve this with most containers without rinsing.

You might need a quick rinse if you can’t pour out or scrape out enough. A quick splash in certain food containers can also help recycling staff by reducing smells and mould.

Please try to use minimal water if you need to rinse a container.
