Why would these be in the top 10?

It's well known cardboard is recyclable, but it can have tape or labels that make you think twice about putting it in your blue bin.

Plastic bottles are usually obvious too. Something about pill bottles can seem different though.

The truth is you can recycle them both.

You asked: Can plastic bags go in the blue bin?

No. Plastic bags and other flexible plastic packaging don’t belong in your household blue bin.
It’s an easy one to second-guess because it’s plastic — but not all plastics are accepted the same way.

Got another “where does this go?” question? Keep them coming.

Coming in at number 9… Pizza boxes 🍕

Most people know cardboard is recyclable. But what about when it gets grease and a bit of cheese stuck to it?

You can recycle pizza boxes that have some greasy spots. Just empty the box of crumbs and leftover bits of food.

If there are any large dark grease spots, rip them off and recycle the clean part of the box.

Is this recyclable?

The answer isn’t obvious for somethings. Single-use plastic cups kick off our top 10 most-searched items in the Recyclepedia.

If they’re empty, you can recycle them. That includes plastic takeout cups and solo cups.

Which other items do you think will make the top 10?

Stay tuned for part two.

Cap on or cap off? It’s one of those small recycling questions that comes up all the time.

Caps and lids can stay on plastic and metal containers. Remove metal lids from glass containers and recycle them separately.
