If planning years-long fossil fuel projects in the year 2026 feels wrong... that's because it is.
Prime Minister Carney's recent cuts to nature and climate have a special sting when you know where the money is going: right into major construction projects for the benefit of polluting fossil fuel corps.

Coconut coir is a waste product from processing coconuts that can be tightly packed and shipped light-weight. It's also GREAT for water retention in your soil! 🌱

Peat-free soil mixes are all the rage for the Manitoba gardener who wants the carbon stored in peatlands to stay right where it is: in the ground.

Prime Minister Carney's cuts to the environment will be devastating for wilderness and wildlife. Less money and less staff means less climate action and less protected nature.

Through actions and words, we’re seeing the one-year-old government of Canada — led by our former Banker now prime minister — signal that nature care and climate stewardship are not important. As a country and as part of the web of life on Earth, we can’t afford to let more time pass before fully confronting the crises ahead of us.

We need to tell Manitoba's elected leaders to ban all new peat mines for the sake of our climate, and you should do that here: WildernessCommittee.org/ProtectMBPeat

But we can also do it for the sake of weird little guys like this sundew!🥰

Carnivorous plants like the sundew evolved to thrive in acidic, waterlogged and nutrient-poor environments like peat. What nutrients other plants get from the water and soil, these plants get from trapping tiny bugs.

Peatlands are specialized, sensitive ecosystems that store carbon when intact and exude it when disturbed. They also cover 1/3 of Manitoba. We have a big responsibility to protect this incredible climate powerhouse.
