Our next Green Bagger Presentation is coming up on February 11th!
This presentation unpacks the complex "handshake" between plants and their associated soil microbes during recovery from defoliation stress. Using a red clover-grass system, we reveal that a plant's ability to "bounce back" aboveground does not guarantee a return to the original state belowground. Crucially, we show that this recovery is intensity-dependent: while the system may tolerate moderate stress, high-intensity defoliation triggers a fundamental reset of the soil ecosystem.
