We gathered with Elder Billie to bless our new home at 555 Spence Street to prepare for the care, connection, and support that will be offered within these walls.

Staff, volunteers, board members, supporters, students and community partners joined together as we reflected on the future of this space and the many people who will find comfort, belonging, and support here.

During the blessing, Elder Billie spoke about the importance of nurturing one another and creating a safe, welcoming place where people can come as they are. She reminded us that life can bring challenges and difficult seasons, and that community spaces like Thrive can offer the care, encouragement, and connection that help people move toward healing and experience the good life that everyone deserves.

As we look ahead, we are filled with gratitude and hope for the relationships, stories, and moments of growth that will unfold at 555 Spence Street.

We look forward to welcoming our community into this space and continuing to walk alongside people on their journeys.

Sometimes the best partnerships happen when the right people end up at the same table. 🧡

Thrive’s Ana Ziprick and Jess Smith attended the SRWC Gala celebrating and honouring the incredible work happening in our community.

By chance, we were seated with our Pathways to Healing partner, Tammy Hansen, and had the opportunity to connect with Paula Hendrickson from the Behavioural Health Foundation. 🙌

What started as a gala conversation quickly turned into discussions about shared values, cultural healing, community connections, and ways we might work together in the future.

Through our ongoing Pathways to Healing partnership with ADRA Canada and ADRA Winnipeg Community Hub, we are already working to strengthen community connections and cultural healing through the involvement of Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and local cultural leaders. This latest conversation opened even more possibilities for collaboration.

Some of the ideas we discussed included:

🧡 Blanket Exercise training for staff and volunteers
🧡 Ribbon skirt-making workshops
🧡 Cultural teachings and community events
🧡 Feasts and ceremony opportunities
🧡 Youth engagement connected to Truth and Reconciliation activities
🧡 Sharing spaces, resources, and expertise across organizations

The timing couldn’t be better. This weekend, through Pathways to Healing, we’ll be participating in Blanket Exercise training, and this afternoon we look forward to gathering with community partners, board members, and Elder Billie Schibler to bless Thrive’s new building.

These moments remind us that partnership is about more than programs and projects. It’s about relationships. It’s about people coming together, finding common ground, and creating opportunities that none of us could achieve alone.

We’re excited to see where these conversations lead and grateful for the connections that continue to grow through Pathways to Healing and beyond.

The best community work happens when we work together.
