At the Manitoba Dental Foundation, we believe healthy smiles start with community 💙

Through programs and partnerships across Manitoba, oral health kits are helping reach children, individuals, and families who may face barriers to accessing everyday oral health supplies.

Through the Foundation’s “Closing the Gap” program, 1,200 oral health kits are being distributed across the province with support from Crest Oral-B Canada and community partners including Harvest Manitoba. This season, Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) players also helped share oral health kits with students in communities including Dauphin, Neepawa, Niverville, Portage la Prairie, Steinbach, and Winkler, helping encourage healthy habits both on and off the ice.

Each kit includes simple but essential items like a toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss — small tools that can make a meaningful difference in supporting long-term oral health.

We’re grateful to the many partners, volunteers, and organizations helping improve access to healthier smiles across Manitoba.

Access to oral health care isn't the same for everyone in Manitoba. 🦷💙

While Canada has seen growth in oral health professionals in recent years, access remains uneven. National data shows that most dentists practise in urban areas, with significantly fewer providers serving rural and northern communities. In some regions, this can mean long travel distances or limited availability for regular dental care.

For many Manitobans, barriers like location, cost, and provider availability continue to impact access to care.

The Manitoba Dental Foundation works with community partners to help address these gaps by:

• Funding initiatives that expand access to care

We’re grateful for our partnership with the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL), and the players who visited schools across Manitoba, connecting with students and helping distribute oral health kits to support healthy smiles on and off the ice.

🌟 Partner Spotlight: Healthy Smile Happy Child (HSHC)

The Manitoba Dental Foundation is proud to support Healthy Smile Happy Child, a collaborative partnership that works with communities across Manitoba to prevent Early Childhood Caries (ECC) and promote early childhood oral health.

Through education and collaboration with parents, caregivers, and community partners, the program helps raise awareness about the importance of early dental care and encourages families to take advantage of the First Free Visit (FFV) program.
