Aki Energy is an award winning, non-profit Aboriginal social enterprise that works with First Nations communities to develop sustainable economies through renewable energy and local food productions. Thus creating long term em

ployment for First Nations people in their own communities. To date, Aki Energy has installed geothermal energy in 350 homes in Peguis, Fisher River, Long Plain and Sakeeng. Aki Energy also has a farm operation in Garden Hill First Nation. Aki Energy partnered with Garden Hill to create solutions for the community's diabetes epidemic and high food prices. We developed Meechim Inc. as a healthy food market that sells produce grown in the community garden and chickens that are locally raised.

Today, November 8th, marks Indigenous Veterans Day in Canada. Let's honour the thousands of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people who have bravely served our country in uniform. Their courage, strength, and unwavering dedication, despite facing discrimination and adversity, deserve our deepest respect and gratitude.
