We love our beautiful partners in food recovery! ❤️

Did you know?

With five refrigerated shipping containers in place, Climate Change Connection along with the local food rescue network; is helping circulate nearly 200,000 pounds of surplus food each year, keeping good food out of landfills and on community tables. That food rescue effort reduces an estimated 218 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions annually, the equivalent of taking about 47 cars off the road.

Already, this work has helped provide thousands of additional meals through partners like Community Helpers Unite, Brandon's Food Rescue Grocery Store and Neighbourhood Renewal Corporation with over 1,200 people accessing free groceries at Chalmers last week alone. Good food. Fewer emissions. Stronger communities. 💚

Your ongoing support is important to us and makes a huge impact! Support food rescue and food banks the need is great!

Thank you to everyone who has made this work possible and continues to support food rescue, emergency relief efforts, and reducing food waste.

We are so proud to announce that we were the recipient a few weeks ago of a 40 foot long refrigerated shipping container, from the thanks to our charitable partners at and

We also want to thank Peatr Thomas for beautifying our container with a very meaningful mural that will be enjoyed by the community for years to come!

We recover anywhere between 30k and 100k pounds of food (perishables and non-perishables) weekly, year round, and our biggest challenge is the perishable food recovery because often we don't have adequate refrigerated space, so we can't hold onto items for our community partners who may need a day to be able to pick up or accept a delivery for their own food programs. As a result we end up handing more food to larger organizations that are often well funded already, simply because they have refrigerated storage capacity.

This is a game changer for us as it allows us to hold products cold or frozen for a day or so to engage more and further support the small grassroots organizations who are making a huge impact with what resources they have.

We love doing the work we do, and having the support of other change-makers. Let's do more! Thank you! Well love y'all!! ❤️🦅✨

Chef Kyle and I had the pleasure of meeting Danielle Sinclair from York Factory First Nation while sitting up this big food donation. She runs the Fod Sovereignty program for YFFN and has some really incredible activities for youth and families! We have connected her with a few great resources here in Winnipeg and are looking forward to helping her program and community going forward. She's wonderful, resourceful, and so very kind! Miigwetch for this connection, hope to see you again soon! ❤️🦅✨

Community comes FIRST at CHU! Late this summer we saw a need where multiple levels of government had strings attached to meeting the needs of an Indigenous community, we took it upon ourselves to assist. Our Community Fund was able to provide a $70k food donation to York Factory First Nation. Their ferry stopped running on July 16th due to water levels on the Nelson River being too low. This was a direct result of the Keeyask Dam ramping up service, leaving the community with only runoff. YFFN is otherwise nly accessible by plane, essentially stranding it's 600 residents to fly-in/fly-out access only.

With our partners at and we were able to send non-perishables, huge frozen meat packs and frozen perogies (appropriate quantities for all 155 households on community) to help them stock up for winter.

We try to do whatever we can, whenever we can. We love yous ❤️🦅✨
