Since 1953, the 1st Kirkfield Scout Group has been providing co-ed programming for children and youth aged 5-26. For almost 70 years we have been instrumental in developing well-rounded youth, better prepared for success in the world. Young people from the Kirkfield Westwood community have been participating in great Scouting activities such as camping, canoeing, and hiking throughout Manitoba and

across Canada. Our youth have participated in hundreds of hours of community social and environmental projects from cleaning up local parks and riverbanks, to supporting food banks, and organizations that help our neighbours such as the Optimist Club and Salvation Army. Scouts Canada is committed to proving a safe and inclusive environment for youth to discover the best in themselves. A Scout is confident, capable, and empowered to create meaningful contributions to creating a better world. Through our youth-led programming, Scouts pave their own path to outdoor adventure and fun by setting their own goals, creating organized plans to achieve these goals, and collectively reflecting on their experiences and personal development. Youth leadership is one of the many ways that the Scouts Canada program helps youth develop into critical thinkers and team players. It’s a place where youth gain leadership skills by leading their peers on meaningful adventures in nature.
